Excellent Triple A League Headphones

I've waited until I have about 60 hours on them to make any judgment.. They are very clear but compared to my ancient HD600s I find they lack extension, detail, and depth. This is not to complain. They are very musical although the Sennheiser veil seems more apparent especially with some performances. Bass contrary to many reviews is more than adequate for my ears and genres of music (classical, acoustic, choral). The highs thankfully are not as pronounced saving me from listener fatigue. The 599s are a bit more colored and warm. They are comfortable but a little tight.. The clarity is phenomenal and clearly the headphones' strength. The soundstage is compressed compared to the 600 but not to the point of being a disaster. I'll use the 599s with my computer to stream for which they seem perfect. The music is compressed so you lose a lot anyway. They are worthy of the high accolades I have read, but they are not in the same league as high end cans. The 599 is a very good for an under $200 headphone. I am very happy with them and spent hours A/B in them with the 600s to see which one I'd make my primary. The 600 remains the champion, but the 599 is rightfully in the silver medal position.Read full review...

perfect sound from a pair of headphones

Disclaimer: the picture is the headphones WITH an Antlion Modmic attached.

I'm a casual audiophile. I casually listen to music and most every game I play is done so casually. However, because I use headphones so much, I very easily pick out imperfections and inaccuracies in noise. I got these headphones because of their near-flat frequency response graph, open back, and color scheme. I can definitely confirm this is the best pair of headphones with the best sound I've ever owned.Read full review...

Best sounding headphones I have!

I owed the original beats studios, Sony headphones, and AirPods. Out of all of them I love these the most. Because they are open back you can still hear a bit of the world around you if you need to. They are not bass heavy and to me give just the right amount of bass. You definitely hear the sounds as it’s intended from the artist and producer! They are light weight and very comfortable.

I also use these these for gaming mainly for FPS. I hear the sounds in the direction they are coming from so well. I now prefer these to my Razer Kraken Pro V2 7.1 headphones!

Pretty Flat

After trying several pairs of headphones for home recording, I realised that I needed open back to hear for a more accurate representation. These will work nicely. Fairly flat response with no frequencies sticking out in any obvious way. The bass is good but not excessive. There is a slight mid scoop from maybe 300hz-1Khz and a bit of an exaggerated airy high frequency boost around 10khz. Overall a fairly neutral and pleasant sounding set if not "prettied" up a bit. Very comfortable and easy to wear for long sessions. The difference from $100 level to $150 is remarkable! I'm curious to hear what the next $100 or more would sound like?Read full review...

Great Sennheiser Headphones

The Sennheiser HD 599SE phones are a pleasure to use. I love the comfy feel of them on my head and hardly notice that I am wearing headphones at all. I listen to classical and rock at night with my recliner lowered and the lights dimmed so that I just hear the music I enjoy. These phones are quite good for what I listen to. They may not be as "punchy" as my DT 990's are, however, they are not as "bright" either. These are especially good for listening to piano and violins.
Sennheiser has once again outdone themselves with the HD 599 SE.

Great find for under $100

Solid build, but still lightweight and comfortable. Good quality plastic, velour earpieces. 3.5 mm cable could be a little longer.
Sound great, especially playing lossless. My first open back headphones and the only one I’m using at home now.Read full review...

Comfy and good

These are replacing my 555's and they're great so far.

Fit is comfortable. I like that the material used on the headband is leather. The ear pads are a felt fabric which is comfortable.

It's a nice touch that the cable is detachable, thus easily replaceable.

Sound quality is superior to my previous pair. Lows sound fuller.

Super 3d HiFi sound.

Excellent sound quality with neutral bass with enough punch. Great sound stage instrument and vocal separation. Open back creates better sound quality and separation than closed back. Very happy with purchase.Read full review...
