clean, clear and honest=Transparent

These are open back phones, however there is very little leakage from outside influences and this allows the resulting sound to be very open and natural. The large motors contribute to a solid bass that never gets muddy and mids that never get harsh although they (mids) might be down a db around 400hz, which isn't a bad thing. The "muffs" cover the ears completely and comfortably and seem to seal well. Defining "pure" sound has always been a holy grail with audio enthusiasts; however, I personally think the term transparent works equally as well and describes the experience with these phones. Sound as close to what the engineers heard in the studio is what we all strive for and these sound as good (and better in some cases) that I've heard in the studio. I'm a keyboardist/composer and pipe organ tuner with very picky ears; The HD 600's satisfy completely.Read full review...

Why did I wait so long?

I have been in the recording business off an on for more than 50 years. I always mixed with 2-3 sets of monitors. Lots of cash and complications. Getting the right boxes, amps, wire, and..room treatment. I was taught and believed headphones, no matter what their quality, were simply not up to the task. Well, uh, that was wrong.

Check out these phones and discover the pleasure of really hearing all the detail, defects, and beauty of your tracks...and your mixes. If you doubt this, listen to anything you have done or other material you know well and get those pleasant, and not so pleasant insights- almost instantaneously.

These phones have great detail, soundstage, and accuracy. Enough for me to take the chance of tracking- and mixing when I don't have all the voodoo of the control room up and running at its max.

I don't see how you can go wrong for this very reasonable amount of cash.

Simplify and beautify your recording life- check out the Sennheiser HD 600 .

Fantastic Sound Quality Without Paying A Premium Price

Easily the best set of headphones I've ever owned but I haven't spent this much money on a pair so that is part of the reason. Very comfortable, easy to wear for extended periods of time and the sound "leakage" is not so loud that it would be a nuisance to others unless the room was completely quiet otherwise. Sound itself is exactly as desired as a reference headset that is flat. I want to hear the music as the musicians intended - no extra bass, treble or mid-range. I can always use an EQ if I want to adjust. So glad I made this purchase. Read full review...

great headphones

these are excellent headphones. they are refurbished, but aside from one very very incredibly minor visual defect, I would not be able to tell they aren't new. also they are better than my previous headphones (beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro) by a surprisingly large margin, in both sound quality and comfort. The only reason to not get these is if you need something really durable. Read full review...

They sure sound Great to me.

I primarily listen to my stereo speakers but wanted to have the ability to listen to HP's so I went on the hunt. So for the last few months I have been reading and watching a lot of reviews on headphones and ended up with the HD 600's.
Couldn't be any happier. I know that there are more expensive HP's that get great reviews but wanted to keep the cost down and these fit the bill.
They are comfy and sound really nice. I also picked up a Schiit Asgard on sale and the combo makes me smile.
If you are looking for a good sounding pair of HP's that don't cost a lot, check these out.

Good sound quality, good for critical listening - but uncomfortable with very strong clamping force

These are great for critical listening - bad recordings or even minor flaws are more obvious with these than some more forgiving headphones. To get the most out of them though you'll want a decent amp to drive them.

Comfort wise though.. they're hard to use for long periods of time. I have a pretty small head but I get headaches after wearing these for prolonged periods. They're also heavy. You'll never ever forget that they're sitting on your head.

Best headphones

Audiophile quality, excellent stereo imaging, sound is superb with an excellent flat response studio quality. You can hear every nuance of music including things you would not hear from most headphones. Highly recommend. Although their 300ohm headphones I have not had a problem driving them. If your going to use with an iphone ect, them would more than likely need a preamplifier to drive them to utilize their full potential.Read full review...

Audio bliss!

Sennheiser have really achieved something special with the hd-600's. The comfort is outstanding, after having them on for a couple of minutes, you just forget you're wearing them.
The sound quality is just luxurious. I also own a pair of AKG K702's, which I also love. But I find that their almost maniacle clarity (not a bad thing) somehow takes away from the emotion of the music, sounding a little clinical sometimes. What I love about the HD-600's is their perfect balance between crystal clear sound and their warm timbre.
Discover your music collection in a new light.
Even though they are certainly not the new kids on the block, these headphones have been the benchmark since their release and still are to this day.... and for good reason.

Awesome!

Incredible sound, very comfortable, and the feel really sturdy despite the main body of the headphones being made of plastic. As an added bonus, this is the finish that I wanted, with the gray speckles rather than the just all gray, more industrial modern look. Very long cable that gets caught under my chair sometimes but also reaches all the way across my room so I can, for example, work on my 3d printer while still in a Discord call, or lay in bed and listen to music. Overall, a pretty good deal on a very good set of headphones.Read full review...

Great product. At least provide carrying case like Beyer Dynamic phones!

Natural sound. Good midrange. Non boosted low end. Perfect for tube amps. Non analytical hi end as opposed to Beyer DT880. 300 ohm easy to drive with about any device. Shines with vacuum state components.Read full review...
