Clearly Jackie Chan's Best Movie.

This non-stop, action packed movie catches the imagination with it's elegance from the very first moment it begins. Then it quickly becomes even more entertaining and fast paced without losing it's beauty. A full orchestra is featured on the soundtrack. It's music is incredibly inspiring, especially during one particular scene in which Chon Wang (Jackie Chan) stands on the mountain in awe of the vastness of the west. It is more than breathtaking. The humor, action and acting are very well balanced. Not any one performance is sub par. None of the characters are overplayed with the exception of Roy Obannon (Owen Wilson), but Obannon is portrayed like a teen boy in a man's body. The world is his oyster and his overconfidence is almost endearing. It's obvious that Owen Wilson intended the Roy Obannon character to be a little over-the-top. Wilson's Obannon and Chang's character develop somewhat of a friendship and the two have one wild adventure after another as they chase the bad guys and in turn are chased by more bad guys in search of the lovely Princess Pei Pei, who was kidnapped from China. With the help of Chon Wang's Indian wife and his loyal horse, the two men might actually suvive the noose, a posse of crazed train robbers and flying bullets. An impressive fact: China opened up the actual "Forbidden City," for this film. This was never done before for a commercial project undertaken mainly by "Westerners."
Warning for some viewers; there is some foul language and the Lord's name is "used in vain."
Now a final note: I would not recommend this for very young children. Teens and adults will get the most enjoyment out of this movie. I appreciate Jackie's Blooper Scenes at the end. Every movie of his that I've seen has these. They show that even a man like Jackie Chan, a professional at his craft, can get hurt. That might cause some immature viewers to think before attempting these stunts.

As funny as they come

When I first saw this movie I couldn't believe I hadn't heard of it before. My friend and I were laughing about as hard as either of us ever had at a movie. Probably more. This was my first introduction to Owen Wilson's slow tempo style and I was hooked. He leaves you wanting to hear him say even the mundanest of things just because his delivery is so hilarious.

The storyline is great, the action is excellent, and the banter between Owen and Jackie is simply hilarious. Wonderful directing and camera work make this a most excellent action comedy. A must own in anybodies collection.

Shanghai Noon

A 19th century Western. Chon Wang is a clumsy Imperial Guard to the Emperor of China. When Princess Pei Pei is kidnapped from the Forbidden City, Wang feels personally responsible and insists on joining the guards sent to rescue the Princess, who has been whisked away to the United States. In Nevada and hot on the trail of the kidnappers, Wang is separated from the group and soon finds himself an unlikely partner with Roy O'Bannon, a small time robber with delusions of grandeur. Together, the two forge onto one misadventure after another. A gentle enjoyable comedy that is made all the more enjoyable by the ease by which it succeeds at making you laugh.Read full review...

My Favorite Jackie Chan Movie!!!

This is my FAVORITE Jackie Chan movie! I love westerns, and the mix with Owen Wilson is the best I have ever seen! It includes the Best Bar fight also! Every time I watch this movie I catch something new! Really good if you watch this DVD with the commentary! The indian fight scene in the river holds some really cool facts! Makes me want to see Owen Wilson in more westerns too! He deadpans the Wannabe cowboy perfectly! Even though the follow up to this movie was good, I really wanted more western theme like this one! I have and will be watching this one over and over!Read full review...
