This is an hysterically funny sendup of zombie movies, but it does have a lot of tough humor

A Classic! And a VERY British Film.....

What more could you ask for from a movie?!
Comedy, great acting, a pub in the centre of a zombie takeover and... Shaun! And you know what the best thing about it is? It's British! That's right, you yanks, we're coming back at ya and getting back into the movie making business.
I love the fact that from the beginning scene, in the pub, all of the characters already feel like someone you've known for years. The acting and comedy are completely natural (especially Simon Pegg and Nick Frost - I expect the fact that they lived together has something to do with it!) and I love the parts filmed in proper British suburbia - everytime I watch it I notice different things going on in the background that I hadn't seen before.
Obviously the story is a rip-off from the horror classic "Dawn of the Dead" but, you know what? I really think they did it some justice! "Spaced" fans out there will have already noticed the lads 'borrow' ideas from heaps of other shows and films, and generally pull it off really well!
The zombies of the film are amazingly scary yet comically funny - I think everyone's seen the clip of the girl in their back garden and the record-throwing incident...! And it really helps us in getting an answer to the all-important question; What would YOU do in a zombie attack?! I think a lot of us would do EXACTLY what Shaun did! And don't say you've never thought about it....
A funny, down-to-earth, comedy horror brought to you by British filmakers - highly recommended to all and looking forward to their latest release, Hot Fuzz! Definitely one for a night in with your mates and a damn good giggle - you'll want to watch it all over again by the time it's over!

Who Died and Made You King of The Zombies?

I love horror movies, especially zombie horror movies. Still, I am always skeptical about zombie movies and even more if they are labeled a "spoof". Too many times spoofs are just scenes taken directly from horror movies done with "comedic" actors who inject their special (juvenile, toilet, fratboy) brand of humor. Rest easy - Shaun is not one of those.

Shaun is a guy who has a dead-end job, lives with his slacker/dope-dealing best friend and has a girlfriend who is on the brink of dumping him. So when the dead come back to life they are the least of his problems. Actually it becomes the ideal situation to be his girlfriend's hero and win her back.
With his best friend Ed, Shaun picks up his mom and stepdad and then picks up his girlfriend and her best friends. So the group has to find a good place to hide and Ed thinks the best place would be their favorite pub - The Winchester. But things don't go well for the survivors but that is ok because it is funny as heck!

There are many references to zombie films throughout the movie - Shaun's mom is named Barbara and Ed pays homage to Night of the Living Dead's most memorable line "We're coming to get you Barbara!", one of Shaun's co-workers, who calls in sick, is named Ash. Like Bruce Campbell's character in the Evil Dead series.

Smart and funny, this is one spoof that will have all bases covered. It will make you laugh but will also keep you at the edge of your seat!

You've Got Red On You

Comdey/Horror or Horror/Comedy... either way, Director Edgar Winter & Simon Pegg (Shaun) mix them together with a cricket bat in this British version of when zombies attack in London. The original zombie and undead fans will enjoy the subtle references sprinkled throughout the film. It's funny, it's scary and it's a great movie.

You may also like Night of the Living Dead (George Romero) and Evil Dead 2 (Sam Raimi).

Shaun rocks!

Shaun Of The Dead is one of my all-time favorite fun movies. Simon Pegg is perfect in the role of Shaun and Nick Frost is again excellent as his best buddy. When I am looking for a film that doesn't want me to think but just sit back and enjoy, this movie satisfies like very few can. The film actually brings slackers to a higher level. I have recommended the movie to many friends, and all have loved it as much as I do.Read full review...

Good Fun Movie

I watched this on tv and just decided to buy it, because it was a funny movie.

The beginning is a bit slow to build up to the point where the hero has to deal with all the zombies.... but it is worth the wait.

Lots of fun and quips along the way. It's not your typical zombie movie.
There's no sex in it, a good family movie (except for all the f bombs!)... but hey, if this world were suddenly overrun by zombies, I'm sure f bombs would be the norm. lol

I'd recommend this movie if you liked "Zombieland" and making fun of the zombie movies!!

One of the best zombie films ever!

If you enjoy Simon Pegg from "Spaced" or British humor mixed with zombies then this film is for you. Despite it being a comedy (or ZomRomCom (Zombie Romantic Comedy), it had some of the best zombie make-up and effects I've seen in any zombie movie. The characters all work together perfectly and all the actors could not have been better or cast differently. For the zombie fanatic there are pleanty of references to other movies and filmmakers that I shall not divulge her simply because I don't want to spoil it for you.
It is a movie worth not only owning, but watching over and over again. Each time you will experience something new. I recommend that after watching this film you look online for all the references made within the movie whether they be internal or external to it. It's worth checking out, just in case you miss some.
One of the best movies to come out in a long time!
While one may easily, illegally burn a copy of this film, you should definitely be ashamed of yourself for doing so. The creators of this film deserve every penny for creating it.

Shaun of the Dead

I saw this movie several years ago and liked it. I decided to purchase it in preparation for Halloween. There are times that you see a movie and the next time you visit it, you do not like it as well. However, I liked this movie more the second time that I saw it. What is genius about this movie are the subtle references to other "zombie"/"living dead" movies. If you are not a fan of the genre, you may miss them. I recommend going to a site like imdb and review the trivia section after first viewing so that you can look for these references the next time around. In addition, there are references to the television series Spaced. Although light and comedic, it does take a dark turn. It's a "living dead" movie, so what do you expect?Read full review...

🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

This is an extremely funny movie. I've already seen it 20 times and I would not get bored if I watched it once a week for the rest of my life.
