A fun and visually fascinating vertical shooter.

I'm not sure why people criticize the graphics and gameplay/fun factor of this game. The game has a good contrast of bright and dark colors with detailed backgrounds. You can equip weapon upgrades as the game advances. The voicing and soundtrack is also good.

I really do miss the days of Working Designs' reflective/colorful cover art and instruction manuals. No other publisher has really done this since WD went defunct in 2005.

Anyway, I really like this game.

I've always loved silpheed

It's simply one of the best and most underrated franchises in the vitical shooter genre. Lost planet isn't as good as silpheed for the Sega CD, but it's fantastic in its own regard. Ship customization before each stage, a story that unfolds as you play. Interesting enemy design and tight controls make this one of my personal favourites. Though, the soundtrack is a little weak. Silpheed: The Lost Planet

Great for those who love classic arcade games. Clean, simple, and shooting things is the main task. Graphics could definitely use a good splash. If a sequel was created, I would buy it.

Good but Nothing Special

SILPHEED reminds me of NANOSTRAY (DS) and AXELAY (SNES), a good old fashioned back-to-basics 2D shooter. Sadly, there's nothing really remarkable about it to set it apart or even above the aforementioned games. It's a decent title, but not worth breaking the bank.Read full review...
