Awesome embroidery Machine
This machine embroiders beautifully. It has older software that used windows xp...but with some tweeking it is supposed to work with windows 8 and 10. There is a group for the XL-5000 and they are very helpful. I love being able to download designs from my computer to the machine. Best bet is to have an old XP on hand. If you don't, you might need some help hooking up to the newer computers. Other people are downloading the designs to the card. I don't have that but they say it is easy with the box. I'm good so far because my old XP laptop is working great. It has tons of designs and fonts already on the machine too.Read full review...

Bobbin timing is off when received, cannot rate accurately
I had to take the machine in to be repaired as the bobbin timing was off when I got it. I have not been able to sew or try the embroidery unit. Quality sewing claims Singer does not support this model any longer. Threads itself nicely and automatically threads the needle. I cannot reasonably rate the machine yet..Read full review...

Horrible Sewing and Embroidering Experience
I was so excited to receive this machine..but was extremely disappointed in its performance. It has these great features like automatic bobbin winding from either the needle or a separate thread spool the thread spool feature did not work and the needle left a poorly wound bobbin. The thread changing feature is horrible it constantly causes you to have to re-thread your needle and never worked properly. I was never able to get the embroidery unit to work at all. When I stitched decorative stitches it was impossible to get them adjusted properly. I am an avid seamstress, been sewing for 25 years and this was my worst sewing experience to date. I am returning this machine as soon as I can already boxed up: will go back as soon as I hear from the seller.Read full review...
A very easy to use, high end state-of-the-art machine
This is a TREMENDOUS machine that combines the routine sewing functions of a regular sewing machine, with the advanced, state-of-art ability of a high-end embroidery machine. Going from never having owned an embroidery machine to this computerized machine was a bit intimidating, but the instructions are written well enough to be able to navigate and learn. It will truly take us years to fully achieve the the capabilities of this machine, but we'll get many, many good years of service out of it while we learn.Read full review...
The Singer Quantum XL 5000
The Singer XL 5000 is a vintage sewing and embroidery machine. Although it is difficult to find parts because of the age of the machine (2001-2002), if you can find one in good condition it sews and embroiders like a dream. It is the same machine as the Elna Xquisit.Read full review...

Singer Quantum XL-5000
Singer XL-5000
Wow is what I have to say about the XL-5000. Most reviews out there regarding this machine is people that cannot understand the software or electronic options of the machine. Do not give up on the technology. If you want an easy machine get the $350 Wal-Mart machine. The XL-5000 is smooth and will be an asset to any family.Read full review...
