Single White Female

You can take this 1992 thriller one of two ways: it's either a highly suspenseful movie about an unfortunate young woman's psychological breakdown, or it's a glossy slasher movie starring two of Hollywood's best young actresses. Or maybe it's both at the same time-or perhaps it's the clever and well-acted thriller for its first hour before resorting to the routine shocks of a cheap horror flick. However you look at it, there's no denying that this is a dynamite showcase for Jennifer Jason Leigh as the flatmate from hell who becomes the bane of Bridget Fonda's existence. First she picks up Fonda's mannerisms, then starts to borrow her wardrobe, cuts her hair to resemble Fonda's, and even "borrows" her roommate's boyfriend for a deceitful night of lovemaking. By that point Fonda's totally freaking out (wouldn't you?), and, well, that's when the whole thing gets a little too silly. Still, this is a nifty little shocker, and director Barbet Schroeder brings more intelligence and style to the material than it really deserves. Add that to the fine performances by the battling roommates and you've got a movie that will make you think twice before inviting total strangers to live with you.

Suspense Done Right!

No this isn't a single woman lookig for Mr. Right..instead this is a single white female seeks room mate..what she gets instead is Norman Bates in panties..When lovely Allie breaks up with her Fiancee after finding out he is very much male..she advertizes for a roomie..in comes Heddy at first all seems great Heddy is fun company for Allie, but the truth is she misses her man..Heddy of course worries she will be left homeless if he comes back into her life..Allie assures her he wont be back..but when he does return Heddy feels betrayed and what follows is madness unleased..this film is great for adult viewers, but whatever you do don't let the Kiddies watch! Film is filled with adult language and adult situations you know sex..Bridget Fonda and Jennifer Jason Leigh are fanastic in their roles, however I would have cast Jody Foster as a Lesbian lover who uncovers her madness and rushes to save both Allie and Heddy..now that would have been a fun watch..If you love edge of your seat suspense then you will love this..Don't miss this one!!Read full review...

The young woman who moves in changes slowly from normal and supportive to psychotic and dangerous, while also physically transforming herself to appear more and more like her roommate.
