Sister Act

This is a story about a nightclub singer in Reno Nevada who's married lover is a hit man. She becomes aware of his profession after witnessing a murder he orders. She goes to the police for protection, and they hide her in a convent in San Francisco until they can bring her lover to trial. Only one of the officers knows her location because there's a leak in the office and all the other witnesses end up disappearing. Needless to say it's hard to hide a lounge singer in a convent! Whoopie is terrific in the lead role. Many of the actors are well known in other movies in their own right. None of them are professional singers but they pull it off wonderfully.Read full review

Funny, Gorgeous Music, and Engaging

I've watched this movie a couple of times and don't ever tire of it. The music is phenomenally gorgeous and transports me into a space of spirit. The acting is really engaging and Whoopi Goldber, Maggie Smith, and Kathy Najimy are terrific. The entire cast is marvelous.
