Realworld Review

Great camera. Just used it for a photoshoot and the next day for a coorporate conference video. It allowed me to do a full 2 hour shoot without stopping. I could have easily done 3 to 3 1/2 with a battery grip. I was shooting inside but also at 4K 30. Better than expected performance and it was nice to match my other Sony A7R III vs mixing with 5D IV and having to deal with the Canon codec. I used the MC-11 and 100-400 with 35 crop to extend to 500. With stage lighting I was able to shoot at 125 ISO, 60fps, 7.1 manual focus due to non-native glass. I would love to see this in video with native glass but I have yet to get longer lenses for the Sony platform.

File sizes are HUGE for photos. Why can't sony provide a smaller option. I would be okay with it buffering longer to shoot at 24 or 30 mp when shooting real estate but 120 uncompressed and 60 compressed is a pain. I have to use a different body. Tired of rolling through Terabytes of data every month. I know, this can be solved by me deleting files but I hate deleting source files.

more than one cam in use ..wish more for less..

had the old a7r2 for 3years ,reliable and works well, but slow.
old one is 60-100g lighter. got this cam for 60M
I like APS c cam for it extra reach and lighter body .
This cam works 3 cam in one for me .
1st is I can use 60M max resolution for serious work .
2nd for scouting wide animals shoot.which 28M give me good final quality images .That I cannot do with my old cam.
3rd travel light cam which I can bring with a small lens and light gears even my kid can take pictures with. I rediscover the extremely compact 16mm-50mm kit lens which so well design for compactness which give me very good color and contrast image .I remember sharpness is not everything which u can get a best composed image to show,.
Pro..faster work flow due to improved menu .wish it has 2 more programmable buttons on left side next to C3
...more accurate and faster focus than the old ,even with adapted lens
...color and contrast perceivable better than old cam
...batteries last longer 40% than old cam.
Con..AEL button easily activated by mistakes
....price 20-30% higher on lens but improvement is not 30% better than the old cam .
...screen is not top class, function limited rotation limited (which it can rotate.)
...price on the high side.

Love it, with some small reservations.

Over 60 Megapixels. Excellent auto focus. (be careful which setting you use). Decent battery life. Smaller size then the "A lens" line. You can buy an adaptor for your "A lenses" so you don't have to buy more glass.
The adaptor doesn't allow all autofocus functions, a bummer! There are 2 adaptors out there one allows the auto function to work, but leaves others out. So, you can buy both or eventually buy lenses in the "C" line. I have some of both. Due to cost, I don't plan to replace all. Sony has some "A" lenses that are smaller in size and much more reasonably expensive. That is highlighted by the 600x lenses that can run into the thousands vs the "A" 8/500 which is in the low hundreds.

Stunning Quality Beast

Awesome camera... not an easy 1 2 3 as you may think. You have to know what you're doing. Besides this is a PRO line camera, not for go to the yard item. 61MP with amazing AF capabilities. Great endurance of power (battery life) plus all the features we are used to from previous Sony cameras.
Great ergonomics, dual SD slots, great and better viewfinder compared to its predecessors. If you are a serious photographer... this is a great mirrorless camera for you.

Great

The Sony a7rm4 is a great camera. My first full size sensor. It does take some reading to setup, but it is not too hard. I already was familiar with most of the menu setup as I used the Sony NEX 7 before this one.Read full review...

Best camera I've owned.

I really don't have a ton to say because I'm an amateur photographer and honestly am not using HALF the features of this machine. I'm upgrading from a Nikon D800 and the image quality of this camera is outstanding. Currently, I only have the Zeiss 55mm 1.8 on here and it's amazing in both bright light and low light. Quit thinking about it. Get this camera today. It's easy to use if you've ever had a camera before. Don't wait. GET IT!!!Read full review...

Couldn’t be happier, great combination of features for several different types of photography.

Unbelievable quality and love the focus peaking feature combined with Zeiss MF lenses.

The best camera in the market for amazing price. Don't think just buy it or rent it out to test.

Amazing simply amazing, Image quality auto focus speed with accuracy. I am migrating from Canon's world of outdated technology. I have paired this up with Sony 24mm f1.4 and Sony 70-200mm f2.8 OSS and will buy the 90mm f2.8 macro by Sony. Focus assist with zoom, eye detection with accuracy and fast speed with 10 fps mechanical and electronic was great for me, no they had IBIS...got to love it specially if you are shooting stills with manual lenses. This thing is both beauty and the beast in one package. You don't need a teleconveter it has aps-c mode that gets you there with literally click of a button (customize any of custom buttons) but you images are reduced down to 24 megapixel. You you gain more buffer and now you whole screen is 100% covered with AF points.

Low light performance can certainly be improved by Sony but it is impressive hands down.

Canon if you are reading this you will lose more customers like me if you fail to produce affordable bodies to pair up with new amazing RF lenses line up.

Largest Sensor Matters

The Sony a7R IV is unrivalled for still photography simply because it has the largest sensor (61 MB).
It has the most comprehensive suite of controls for single frame work.
As mirrorless cameras evolve into full featured video cameras there is less emphasis on their still photography capabilities.Read full review...
