A very good buy for a lot of basic photo applications

The Sony A6000 is the entry level now "obsolete" APS-C mirrorless body. It has a very giood electronic viewfinder and movable screen.

I use mine for work type photos and with vintage lenses with adapters. This camera workes very well for this.

I bought my first 6000 when my Nex 6 died. I have an use in which I take abotu 200 photos a day and my first A6000 had a few failures including a briedf fallure of the shutter to operate. This happened at a shutter count of abotu 300,000 operations so I bought this one to replace it.

I used some contact cleaner on the shutter and failed adjustment knob wiht the result I am not used the replacement yet.

I have ofund I do not need the features of the 6100 for what I do with this camera so I get the SOny system at minimla cost/

A great compact mirrorless camera

I'm a Canon user. But overall I'm satisfied with the performance of the Sony A6000. The first impression you get looking at this camera is a point and shoot with inter-changeable lens option.
The menu displays are a bit crowded on the display screen and it will take time for you to get used to it. The auto focus points is like somebody dropped a handful of pebbles on the sensor. Too many of them (179).

But anyways, the picture quality is great. Excellent in low light. Less noise in high iso. Fast auto focusing. The 16-50 which came along with it is a nice small carry-around lens. But I don't like the power zoom on it. It is difficult to stop at the right zoom you want. The shutter sound is a bit noisy. You might need a couple of additional batteries as it consumes more power than a DSLR, because your view finder is electronic. So it wont save power even if you switch from the live shoot mode to view finder unlike a DSLR. It has a nice little on-camera flash which pops out on a button press. The force with which it pops out gives you a feeling that it is going to throw it off the camera. It has a hot-shoe too. But to fit additional flash, you might have to remove the eye cup. Considering the size and weight of the camera, you might have to look for a compact flash or a less heavier one.

Unlike the other mirror less cameras, Sony provides a view finder as well. I prefer the view finder over the display screen unless I shoot video. Sony still has to improve on the view finder.

The tiltable screen is good but I prefer one which swivels and could be turned around.

It takes time to get used to the settings but believe me you will learn.

"Love the pictgure quality"

My camera of choice for many years is Sony. I especially am enjoying the Sony a6000 Alpha 24.3 Mirrorless Camera 16-50mm Lens + 634 GB 16 Pcs Accessory Kit. It is a great deal because I got everything I needed in one bundle and that certainly saved money as compared to buying items individually. The Sony a6000 consistently yields excellent pictures that are clear and colorful. The range of options provided with the camera are unlimited. It is truly amazing at all the things you can do to produce creative pictures. Just recently I took some portraits on site at my church of members that missed the portrait sittings and like "WOW" they were every bit as good as the portraits the directory studio produced. The members and I were very pleased. From portraits to baseball games, the Sony a6000 is definitely the camera to consider for your needs,Read full review...

Key features for budget price

Having given up analog photography in the late 1980s, the a6000 is a great way to re-enter the craft on a budget. It has an quality APS-C sensor, viewfinder, RAW format, and interchangeable lens, all for the lowest price available. It’s light, compact, easy to tote.
I have yet to think of a feature that I want but that this camera does not have. I have been pleased with what I can do with it, e.g. shoot & display straight into b&w, minimal set up to switch back & forth between manual lenses from the likes of Canon, Nikon, auto exposure bracketing, etc.
I’ll probably stick with the Sony line & switch to full-frame when my requirements in print image (16x20”) are no longer met with an APS-C sensor.

Sony A6000

This camera has so many features that it will take some time to use some of them. Some features will probably never be used by me. I like that there are many accessories for the camera, especially the lens. As is true for many high tech cameras, the manual doesn't even address most of the features. That's why I gave the "NO" rating on Is It Easy to Use. Cameras are not easy to use when I don't what they are capable of. That's right, I'm not a pro, I just like good pictures.Read full review...

User friendly camera

I got this camera about a month ago and really impressed with what it has to offer. Firstly I bought this camera because people rave about wireless transfer photos to your phone and it’s so easy to do; however, initially I came across one hurdle my photos can’t appear on my phone due to the app they mentioned no longer support Sony camera. Currently they use imagingEdge app. Secondly it’s a good value and easy to operate. You won’t regret buying this product. Lastly it’s rather compact in size.

Very Pleased

First I must say the product arrived fast and earlier than expected. As far as the camera very could choice being that I’m a beginner. Picture quality is very good even with the kit lens. I can be a little bit of a perfectionist so I will upgrade the lens to a prime lens for the pictures I want to take. I like the fact it is pretty compact and I will be traveling overseas main reason I got the camera to be able to carry it around in a small backpack. Overall excited to use more and see what the camera can really do. Hope this review helps!Read full review...

Lightweight camera but with a HUGE case

Love the camera except all the bundles that came with the camera. The case is too big for such a small camera (does not have special compartments for lenses), so definitely will not be carrying the case with me and now looking for small sized cases.
Overall, not satisfied with the bundle except the tripod and the batteries (e.g. huge case, rough straps on skin, unnecessary usb connector, lens band? ).

Lightweight Mirrorless camera with great image quality and ease of use

Easy to use out of the box, great image quality. Love the compact and lightweight build; a big improvement over my old DSLR. Interchangeable lenses a big plus. Would definitely recommend getting a high quality SD card; a fast write speed is a must.Read full review...

Still a fantastic little camera

Just getting to know this Sony Alpha 6000 mirrorless camera, but impressed so far with its images and features. Although not as laden with extras as its younger siblings, it too is also about half the price. Rarely do cameras still sell so well years after their debut, but the Sony Alpha mirrorless series has made an amazing splash in the prosumer camera market. One feature I miss is an audio input, but I knew that feature was not found on the A6000. More details as I experiment more, but my overall first impression is a good one!Read full review...
