Awesome Camera

I can do without the mini-tripod and mini backpack, but the rest of it is great for starting photographers. The price is about right on this one. The lens is pretty good to get started with, and the full frame/APS-C capability allows for the use of much less expensive lenses to be adapted to it. It's a great camera, and takes decent video. It has a high ISO setting, but starts getting noisy around 1200, and takes photos in RAW format; also JPEG, but who wants that? I ended up getting a new bag for it, and some spare batteries(they die fast), but other than that it's a nice package. If you want to take serious photos and pretty good video, this is possibly the more affordable way to go. It'll get the job done admirably until you're ready to upgrade to something in the $2000+ range. Read full review...

Worth every penny!

This is a great camera and practically effortless to use right out of the box. The screen is nice and big and the camera feels great in your hand. The weight is just about right and the controls are easy to navigate. The 28-70mm lens is good for beginners. The battery is holding a decent charge and it doesn't take too long to get a full charge. Switching from 35mm film to a DSLR has been moderately smooth and I still feel like this camera is giving me enough control over the images. Overall, I'm quite happy with this purchase. Sony A7 - an astounding product in a compact package

As an experienced long time amateur photographer, I have witnessed and used the best of what was available at a price level that I could afford at various stages of my life. This experience reaches back to the early 1950's, and includes all the various designs for 35mm film cameras, as well as medium format types. Early digital was not up to the quality of the best film cameras, as Leica, Nikon, Canon, etc., and I have used most of these. After the A77 Sony, I was converted to digital. Recently, I downsized to the smaller mirrorless types, and have had a variety of them, all getting better with each new model. The A7 that I have recently acquired via ebay, has topped everything that preceded this review. For it's size, the full frame format produces astounding quality, and makes it so easy to achieve professional results, as compared to the old days. This camera is a marvel, and my recent trip to Glacier National Park in Montana, has yielded some of the best images that I have taken as compared to four other trips to that special place. Sure, I have the experience, and the practiced eye from 60 years of capturing images, but the camera facilitates the task in so many ways, that it frees up the photographer to concentrate on their intuitive abilities. Great picture quality for a good price.

I purchased the Sony A7 a few months ago and can't believe the awesome pictures this camera will produce. I mostly shoot raw but on occassion, I will shoot Jpeg. The picture quality (color, contrast and depth) is so good that you'll not have to do hardly any post processing. The kit lens is much better than other maker's kit lenses that I've experienced. Using the 28-70mm lens has very little chromatic aberration but some pin cushioning at 28mm.

I was using the standard and full sized DSLRs for many years. I dreaded location shooting because of the heavy weight of two bodies and two lenses. The Sony A7 is so small and light. It's now a pleasure to take this camera along, everywhere I go.

If you are debating which camera to buy, buy this one. You'll love the picture quality and size.

Fantastic Camera!!!!

I sold retail photo equipment for 5 years just when digital technology started, so I’m more familiar with 35mm SLRs, but this unit is so easy use!!! The weight is perfectly balanced, and the size is just right for my hands. Most controls are well placed ergonomically. So far I’m very pleased!!! The cost is pretty high but I love the camera so it’s worth it!!!!!Read full review...

Looks And Works As Good As New

So far, seems to be working ok. Will use all different features and settings to make sure everything is up to par. This camera has very good reviews and a new one is really expensive, but with luck this preowned item will be a good buy, especially costing seven to eight hundred dollars less that new. Time will tell.Read full review...

Affordable Full Frame Camera With Great Features

Mirrorless technology provides fast image composition. Electronic view finder allows direct preview of the actual image as exposure is set. With adapters, thousands of manual focus lenses, including vintage film lenses, can be used. Manual focus of these lenses is an great way to learn the effect of the variables that determine image quality.Read full review...

Stunning Image Quality, Great Colour Sciene

I recently picked up the A5100 and was pleased enough with the experience I bought another and this camera. Who doesn't need 3 run and guns! At once.

The cameras are actually for a streaming setup I'm putting together, fun stuff. Truth be told though, after shooting a bit on the A5100 I yearned for more, the A7 II has satisfied that wonderfully.

I will have to get a longer lens though, 70mm just isn't enough zoom. I bought an extra 24-70 for one of the A5100s, and it's 36-105 with the crop, is a pretty nice range. Perhaps a 24-200 or something will be the next purchase? Who knows.

Light up the real joy of photography, not just playing with camera

Just one word, Amazing. I've switched from APS DSLR to this A7. The impression impact on this change is much bigger than from PS camera to APS DSLR in the past. Certainly amazing product. Colors are much much better than any previous Sony camera, very vivid and natural. Most amazing to me is that its output is almost exactly same as what I see in my eyes. I don't want some artificial effect on the picture. I like Camera to take pictures as what i see my eyes and add some effect in post if I want to. In my experience, this is only Camera i've seen. It's that good in my experience, nothing like that from Nikon, Canon and some Sony cameras.
Image quality with kit lens is also very good that I don't need to change lens in short time. It's quite contrary to APS DSLR in previous use. Its kit lens was not good and not impressive. I thought I had a wrong Camera because all other people on the review and internet said otherwise, but it was realized with different lens like fast Prime lens and other expensive lenses. Yes they helped a lot and made a lot change in output. But with that money and all, I was rather disappointed. However, A7 package with kit lens is just simply amazing. I read some reviews about kit lens and complain about that, but I got different result. Kit lens is very very good in my opinion. It's not fast, but who is using Kit lens for fast lens necessary situation. Its not super sharp, but who is looking at picture in pixel level that much. It's very sharp and vivid on my Macbook, ipad and phone. That's good enough for me. I often see 3D effect on kit lens image and never seen often such a result with even fast prime lens in APS DSLR.
A7 really shines with some good old manual prime lenses good. I had old Takuma 50mm f1.8 lens and it gave me superb result. I used same lens on APS DSLR and wasn't very satisfied, but its power and potential was revealed with A7. Just beautiful portrait picture with that lens. I saw the real quality of that old lens to be famous for. Same on old Distagon zeiss lens too.
Only downside is the lack of system native lens choice. As a usual family father, I want to have mid zoom focal length like E-mount 18-200m zoom on FE lens. It's too much asking at the beginning, but that's only my wish. For the time being, Kit lens with inexpensive old manual primes give me joy of camera usage. It lighted up the joy of my photography actually. I like to take photo, but didn't enjoy much with previous cameras (APS DSLR), but with A7, I can feel it and realize that I now enjoy the photography itself, not just playing with Camera.
Video quality is out of question. 1080p with MP4 is my choice always. Its output is best I've seen so far in any other cameras.
There are so many good things for A7 camera. No camera is perfect. But this camera is almost perfect in my needs. And its output is way better than I expected.

Great Camera!

I was shooting with a Nikon D5000...it was time for a replacement. The Sony a7II is great! Lots of dials and buttons that I can customize. I love that what you see in the viewfinder is what your image is going to look like. I still use the light meter to be sure my exposure will be correct, but it is really handy to see what the changes you make to the exposure will have on the image before you click the shutter.

The focus system is superior to what I had, but it is a little slow compared to newer dslr systems. But it is working well for me!

Using a mirrorless system has been a great experience! It is fun to use, easy to carry, and can make stunning images!
