CDP-CX355 Your personal jukebox!

If you have a lot of compact discs, this the way to go! The CDP-CX 335 is a well designed CD player which is basically a small juke box with a playback which is vastly superior to what you'll get from mp3's. With the use of a basic computer keyboard, I'm able to label each CD so it's easy to see which CD is playing on the unit's from screen. That said, it's tedious to have to type in the info for 300 CD's but it's well worth it. If you're lucky, you may have some CD's in your collection which is already encoded so it may not be necessary to type in the info for those. One convenience I really enjoy is the ability to separate my CD's collection in the unit by musical types - 8 in all. I can have one group dedicated to jazz, another for Rock... etc. I just wish I was able to pick a group straight from the remote control; hence a four star rating. One definite advantage with owning this player is that once the CD's are loaded into the unit, you don't have to physically handle them as often - less risk of damaging them.

One thing you should be aware of; the Sony CDP-CX335 is no longer being made. You can only buy these used. For example, mine was manufactured in 2003. While they were initially well made, the primary part that usually fails in them are the rubber belts. This is due to age. Over the course of time, they will eventually stretch and/or dry out. There are three belts- one for the door and two for the rotating carousel which the CD's rest on. Rubber belts are readily available for purchase online. With the help of a few YouTube tutorials, you should be able to replace the old belts yourself, but even if you pay a little extra to have them professionally installed, it's well worth because for a serious music lover, this CD player is an awesome investment!Read full review...

Makes listening to large collection of CDs easy.

If you prefer to the sound of CD over the compressed audio sound found in MP3, IPOD etc. this unit is nice to have. The unit does does have some drawbacks such a some mechanical internal parts such as motors and belts that will need to be replaced or serviced over time and use but the belts are available on Ebay and other sources. 300 cds loaded in the changer makes it easy to play all your CD collection simply by turning the dial to the disc number and pressing play. You can manage the content of what CDs are in the changer by either typing the CD titles in via computer keyboard or a manual method like I use is simply making a paper listing in MS Excel and creating a listing. All your Audio CD's playable from one place

Excellent way to deal with the organization; grouping, categorization, ..etc, of your audio CD investment. It produces excellent sound. And, considering that this is a highly mechanical device it handles searches and loading well.

How I benefitted from this library device.

I have used these for a while and have owned two. I use it to store all my CDs and DVDs for easy access. Makes an awesome library for that use, too. I will have to part with mine soon and have the original remote, FYI. I have made backup CDs and it plays them along with any other type of music CD but the older CDs may not have the audio INFO written to the original so I can burn my own copy and add that to the copy and then I will have the CD Title and song names the way I like it! Continuous Music listening.
