Well designed, and refurbished!

I replaced my jukebox CD player with a refurbished one of the same model, with guaranty. I wish SONY was making new jukebox CD players. I loved my old one. Since Sony is not making jukebox CD players like this one any more, I took the risk of buying this refurbished one. According to the technician who did the work, all parts which would wear out or break are replaced. I have a collection of about 450 CDs, including many older jazz and blues CDs, among the many others. I load it full, and then continuously play the CDs one after the other, so music is always on in my home, and I do not need to keep looking up the music which I like on line. That is a real plus for me. I have the CDs grouped by type of music, so I can get a variety of music. The last Jukebox CD player I had, of the same model, lasted over 20. years, so if this one lasts that long, I would not need to replace it. Read full review...

Great idea but do these even work?

I've had two of these and both of them broke on me. The first one started skipping disks after a couple of weeks so I bought another one. That one worked for a couple weeks and then had the same problem. I have one of them in for repair so hopefully they can fix it. I think it's the laser reader that needs to be cleaned. Both of these units I bought used, so its possible that I just had bad luck but I can't say I'd buy another one. Read full review...

Sony 330 Disk CD Player Does What It Does

This machine is a bit slow and clanky, but it does what I wanted: it provides random play of individual tracks on up to 300 discs. Filled with my jazz collection or my classical music collection, it goes on and on. It works much better than Sony's 400 disc machines of the same era. It also is more satisfying than earlier editions which do not have an optical digital connection between CD player and receiver. With this thing going, I can focus on my reading or writing or room clean up while absorbing music I like--and only music I like. I am very sorry that Sony (and Pioneer) quit making multi-disc players instead of perfecting them.Read full review...

No more handling the CDs for me.

This CD player does it all. It plays the CD then when it is done if you want it to it will move on to the next CD. Or you can have it shuffle the CDs. I love it so much. Sound is great to. I also like the fact that you can label the CDs for easy finding the one you want. Some CDs come with the information already on them and this CD player will pick that up. So everything is labeled and organized and easy to find. No more handling of CDs unless I want to move them around or remove them. Remote has every function on it that you need to move from track to track or CD to CD. You even use it to help you organize your collection. This is the best thing to come along for CD listeners..... I JUST LOVE IT!!!!!!!Read full review...

SONY 300 CD player

Regarding Sony MegaStorage CDP-CX355 CD Changer. A fine unit. CDs must be scratch-free or they will not play! High-end features are primarily designed to work with other Sony high end digital products.Keyboard connector is a great feature.
I payed US$99 for a (new) surplus unit built in 2002. Owners handbook and remote w/ batteries were provided.

BEWARE!!!! The Sony MegaStorage CDP-CX355 CD Changer was not designed and does not ship w/ exterior mounted foot-pads. So be advised, it will certainly scratch your furniture, etc.

Big but holds lots of CD's.

It is big but it needs to be to hold this many CD's. It's great to be able to turn the knob or push a few buttons on the remote to be able play any one of 300 Cd's. It could use more characters on the display but it is not a deal breaker. The analog output sounds very good but it is nice that it also has a digital optical output. It will play burned CD's but it will not play mp3/wma encoded discs. My computer is connected to my system to play those. The laser pickups seem to fail but they are cheap and not too hard to change. Changed it with about 230 CD's still in the changer. This one is a keeper. Overall a very nice CD changer that has way too many features to list here. The wife likes it too. Makes it easy to find and play all those CD's that did not get much play before. Put all those empty CD cases in a box and stash them out in the garage. Big but still takes up less space than all those jewel cases. Really helped to print out a list that has the location of each CD.

Sony CDP-CX355 a great option to tame hundreds of CDs

We constantly play music at our house and have had a Sony CD changer for years. We were very happy with the performance, connectability with other components and the organizational/neatness factor. The carousel is designed so you can select several CDs and they will be played in order. It has a remote control which we have not had any problems with. Newer CDs have title info that scrolls across the carousel's screen, which makes it easy to confirm what is in the slot. Over time, our CD collection has grown, so we decided to buy another, which we bought used on eBay. When we installed the second one, we discovered it operates as a slave to the 1st one, which makes the entire system much easier to operate. Some will argue that this is outdated technology because we can all now download all this music onto a hard drive. With 500+ CDs and two full-time jobs we found this was the cheapest, most convenient, most efficient way to keep the music playing. We also have a laptop connected to the music system so we can bring in the internet. Using Excel, we created a sortable, color-coded spreadsheet to keep track of all the music which we think enhances the value of the carousels.Read full review...

Great CD Player

The player has excellent sound and is easy to set up. Storage of the cd's is easy and the labeling in the memory straightforward. Still can't get a keyboard to work yet on the memory but I may not have the right one. Labeling using the remote is easy if repetitive but that is to be expected with limited letter selection.

Overall I wish I had purchased on of these years ago. The player really makes it easy to listen to any CD at a touch.

All information on any variation of my search was there

I bought the new Sony MegaStorage® CDP-CX355 CD-300 Disc Changer/Player to replace my old Kenwood 200 CD Player that wasn't really working so well anymore after about 14 years of use. It was a smart, reasonably priced piece of entertainment equipment that I have been getting continuous pleasure out of using daily. I LOVE IT! It has room for all my favorite CDs (and then some) which I can play randomly or in order. It comes with a remote control that works beautifully when I want to cherry pick a song from any album I have placed in the unit without having to get up from whatever else I am doing to make my selection directly on the unit itself (which is also an option). It was an easy, one-chord, color-coded hook up to my Sony receiver, which is still in fantastic shape and working condition after 14 years of use! The chord needed to hook up the Sony MegaStorage® CDP-CX355 300-CD Changer/Player comes with the unit, as does the remote control, batteries for the remote control and a very easy to understand user's guide. Within five minutes of having this gorgeous, black Sony 300 CD Player unit out of the box it was connected to my stereo, up and running with perfect, user-friendly simplicity! I am thrilled with the quality of this stereo component and would recommend it as a fine addition to the stereo of anyone who enjoys having easy access to a lot of different kinds of music at their finger tips right there in the comfort of their favorite at home setting. I have my favorite Classical CD's all lined up in there followed by my Pop, Rock and Country CD's. I have a section where my "alternative music" choices are all lined up and there's still room for more! There's a great random shuffle feature too, which often takes me to tracks on CD's that I forgot existed; surprising, delighting and giving me renewed enthusiasm to my seasoned music collection! I have appreciated being able to research and shop the world-wide market on ebay for the best prices and availability of exactly what I was looking for. I am very, very happy with my ebay Buy It Now purchase of the new Sony MegaStorage® CDP-CX355 CD-300 Disc Changer/Player, and you would be too if you're into this sort of thing. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best one available!Read full review...

the time is right

My wife always wanted a cd changer for home. We find the sound of MP3 players to be below that of compact disc, yet we'd like the utility of having lots of choice quickly available. In the move to make everything tiny, a bit of quality has been lost. That is too much of disappointment for us. So, unusual for us, we're reaching back to get a cd changer which is now "old" technology. I like the fact that we can link another whole 355 cd changer and bring a total of 600 disc "on line" if we want, plus the connections allow the 355 to communicate with a Sony receiver... you'll only need one remote. Maybe someday they'll get non-moving-part storage media large enough to restore the quality of sound... until then it's a good cd changer for us! KJCRead full review...

Still playing CDs

I was very upset when I discovered that no multi-CD players are being made anymore. I am talking about the players that played up to 400 CDs. When my Sony 400 Disc Carousel CD player died, I searched everywhere for a new replacement. I went to eBay and found this used 300 Disc player and was quite frankly a bit nervous about buying a used player, but I have nothing but good things to say about it. I only wish it played 400 CDs. I had to scale back on 100 of my CDs I was used to playing, but I'm very happy to have something to play my CDs in. There are still people who use CDs for their listening preference - the older generation, but still, we want to listen to our music the way we've been accustomed to listening and it is upsetting that companies are no longer manufacturing these wonderful products. I'm glad I found this one on eBay! Thanks!!Read full review...
