Handy & Impressive

This camera is handy & space saver especially to those travelling light. Touch screen is very sensitive that you need to be very careful not to switch to a different mode or setting. If you don't mind the memory space on your pro dou card the sweep panoramic view is a bonus feature but takes a lot of memory space. Likewise with the movie it has an added feature in which you can adjust the focus while making the movie. Over all this camera fits my sytle of travelling light & making good quality pictures...Read full review...

Not magic but better indoor shots

Bought the camera wanting to try out the twilight feature. P&S typically suffer on indoor shots. The new sensor and twilight feature do improve on those shots. It's not magic, there can still be noise, and if objects are moving it can't overcome that, but I would guess we get about 25% more useable shots. The outdoor shots are fine too. Have not found a real use for the panorama. It's neat, but the quality is not there. All in all, a nice camera for it's size.Read full review...

Sony TX-1

This camera is revolutionary!! The features it has combined with the functionality are wonderful. Looks great, operates great, and its promising. The camera is full HD, 10 megapixels, it also has 180 degree panoramic shot! You can swing it from right to left 180 degrees and it brings it all together in one picture, "WOW." Great zoom also (Carl Zeiss). Not to mention that it takes excellent night shots. I have longed to find a digital camera that takes good night shots, it was a nightmare. I have owned many cameras including other Sony cameras and none take a night shot as good as the Sony TX-1. It also has the slide cover in the front which protects the lens. 10 frames per second burst to catch those fast paced shots (cars, ball games, etc). 3" touch screen, and also smile detection! What else would you want. I would recommend this camera to everyone. It a wonderful camera and its easy to work with.Read full review...

Sony DSC-TX1 Stills/panorama/movies/macro/burst camera

My first thought was I wasn't going to like this little compact camera - too small to be of much good for anything, and I've got much bigger, better cameras... maybe the wife will like it?

I was pleasantly surprised by the picture quality this camera puts out, how easy and intuitive it is to operate, and my doubts about it quickly turned to happiness with how cool this camera is! Sure, it's not going to match a big DSLR or dedicated video camera, BUT those are bigger and bulkier... this WILL cover a good portion of the sort of picture taking you actually want a camera around for, and will be handy in a pocket or small camera case when opportunity comes a knock'in, and you need to get that shot!

If you like touchscreen interfaces, you'll like this camera (I know some people hate touchscreens, if you're one of them, pass on this one!). You can point to a part of the screen and it will focus on that point! Everything is super easy to access, and you can customize the buttons as well, so things are set the way YOU want them.

Highlights with this cam are the macro capability - if you you need to take closeups of small things, this might well be the camera of your dreams - you can get almost on top of the object you're photographing and fill the entire frame with something the size of a dime or smaller!

Video is "HD", but in this case that means it's 1280x720/30p (in an .MP4 file format), which isn't "full HD", but the video is still very good considering how small this camera is - definitely could do double duty if you don't use video a lot, or just want to catch a few clips here and there to remember those special moments. You will need a video capable computer of course - older machines may struggle with video playback at higher resolutions.

The feature is there, and works well, clips play back in the included Picture Motion Browser (Windows) software, which also helps keep your media files in order, that's a good thing, as you'll probably take a lot of pictures and video with a camera like this! Get a good sized (4G+) Memory Stick Duo!

Because it's easy to grab a small case or stick this in a jacket or shirt pocket, you'll be more likely to have this little guy with you when those great "photo opps" (or "video opps"!) pop up unexpectedly, and you'll get great results.

The relatively new EXMOR "R" CMOS sensor helps out a lot with getting good results in bad light. It won't get you a good photo of a black cat in a dark room without using flash, but it has a couple special tricks up it's sleeve that WILL get you decent results when other cameras would probably choke.

The hand held twilight mode automatically takes a bunch of shots and blends them together so that you get a fairly clean image using available light. There's an HDR (high dynamic range) mode that helps when there are really bright and really dark parts of a picture (like backlit shots) - the camera blends two shots into one to get the best of both, without blown out brights or murky shadows!

Once I tried this little camera, I found it to be one of the handiest cameras I've ever had, ended up having to get a couple for relatives who didn't want to give mine back once they saw how much fun it was to shoot with and what nice results it got!

Sony updated this camera in 2010 with the TX7, adding full HD shooting and tweaking a few features, but the TX1 is still a lot of bang for the buck, particularly if you don't need 1920x1080 video!

Sony Cyber-shot camera

Love this camera...the only issue I encounter is that in holding the camera, my finger often appears in the picture on the left side. I would have expected the battery to last longer for a $50 battery, but you know how that goes. Love the panoramic feature! Still have to work out the correct settings for the right shot. In the auto mode, unless the camera is within 4 feet of the subject, the results appear grainy if enlarged at all. Could just be user error, though. Like the fact that you just slide the cover open and you are immediately ready to take a picture. Very quick response time on this camera. Overall, I would give this camera a 9.5 out of 10.Read full review...

Sony DSC-TX1 10.2 Megapixel is one of the best cameras

Sony DSC-TX1 10.2 megapixel is probably one of the best cameras that I have owned to date. Its a slim design, and with the Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens, you take pictures at 10.2mp(high definition)with amazing results. The twilight option in the night just puts the iciing on the cake. The anti motion blur hand-held twilight, face detection, smile shutter make this camera as easy to take pictures just like a pro or maybe even better than a pro. Taking panoramic pictures with this camera is jaw breaking(football, basketball, team pictures), just amazing!!! The 720p video is perfect for youtube or online video, no blurry videos here. Did I mention the Smart 3" Touch Screen display enables simple selection of shooting modes and clear photo viewing. A 10 out of 10(10stars) in my book. LOVE IT!!!Read full review...

Nice camera, great glass

I bought this camera for a friend to give as a gift. It is very compact, easy to use and comes with Carl Zeiss glass. I recently bought a Panasonic Lumix for myself (make sure you get the Leica lens). This Sony is thinner and lighter. It's perfect for sticking in your shirt pocket for those impromtu photo gems that pop up while on vacation, or with family, or fishing your favorite trout stream.Read full review...

ONE OF THE BEST I HAD!

Before this i had a 6.1 megapixel camera. It was good but not as good as this! This didnt have a touch screen that you can draw on or have a smile detection and even a pet sensor!! This is the best i had. And before that i had a 3.0 mega pixel camera. BUT im super happy there is a happy tune when you turn it on. then there is a stylus pen for the touching of the screen. then i love how it could detect smiles and reduce eye redness. This is the best so far for me. Its kind of not cheap but its an okay price for this awsome camera. Also if you have animals its great to take photos of your pets. It takes great pictures. This is the camera for you. You have a stylus pen so if ur fingers are big like mine you can just use the pen but dont loose this!!!! BUY BUY BUY BUY BUYRead full review...

Great camera

I love this camera so much, its light, sturdy, and it has a great touch screen. at first i thought it was going to have the cheap pressure touch screen but it has the heat one which is ten times better because its a lot easier to interact with it. It takes great quality pictures. The in camera edit is nice but really not necessary, well at least for me. I like editing all my pictures on photoshop and it comes out a lot better that way, but thats just me. Video comes out in great quality but the mic needs to be more sensative. Overall, a 5 star camera for the price. 12megapixel would be better, but that doesnt matter too much.Read full review...

Great point and shoot camera

I really like how small it is. It easily fits in a shirt pocket. And for how small it is, the touch-screen screen is easy to read and provides great functionality.

The camera takes great pictures, has good color balance, and I especially like the ease in using the touch screen to perform functions such as switching the flash on/off, and changing the modes from fully automatic to movie mode or program mode. Also, the anti-blur mode setting is nice.

I would recommend this camera to anyone in the market for an easy to use quality point and shoot camera.
