Good Macro Lens
This lens is great for those extreme close up shots. The images are sharp, but you will have to wait for the lens to focus. If you're really savvy, you can switch to manual focus. The lens is light weight and is now my go to macro lens.Read full review...

Sharp, but Slow Focusing
Lens is incredibly sharp on APS-C cameras, depth of field is not a big issue, but focusing is super slow due to the macro abilities of this lens. focus limiter switch needs to be in back of mind when using this lens. Still great images are produced!Read full review...

My hat is off to Sony.
Using this on an a7ii.
This Sony camera is freaking unbelievable and this isn't their top model. I gave up on Nikon and Canon when I first got a chance to use this camera and saw the results. This lens is exceptionally good and the line only gets better.
I`ll be saving up for the Zeiss lenses and the Sony GMaster.
Got to hand it to Sony. After taking over Minolta and I believe Konica was included, they just went for the gold and the7aii and the 7aiii are just fantastic cameras. Nothing usually impresses me as I expect quality and innovation when I buy Leica gear, but this camera at a much less expensive price is amazing.Read full review...

Good macro prime lens but...
As others have already pointed out, the sole major drawback to this lens is that it is slow to auto-focus. If you are looking for a fast lens, this isn't it. That being said, if you want to do macro or portrait photography, this lens will do the job for a lot less money than other models.
It is native Sony glass. Not very heavy. E-mount. Will work with cropped and full sensor models. Of the photos I've taken so far, they've turned out quite well (see attached pictures; taken with a Sony a7iii).
Definitely would recommend getting an inexpensive tripod and ring-light if you want dive into the macro imagery.Read full review...

Good Macro Lens - Noisy, but Sharp
The lens is compact and images are crisp, but it's also a noisy lens. The focus time could be a little faster, but it's not the slowest focusing lens I've had. For the price, it's a good macro lens.

Sony Macro lens
This lens is great. A little slow to focus, but sharp! Much better than the aftermarket brands I had been using.

An okay macro lens
Focus is very slow, and the smallest aperture is not small enough to create good depth of field. Build quality is okay, focus ring is smooth. In conclusion, it worth the money. $498 is the cheapest full frame e mount macro lens you can buy from Sony. If you want better image, go for the 90mm macro, which cost two times more than this one.Read full review...

Good but limited
This is a great lens for macro photography, but not that great for everyday use. As many wrote, the focus is slow, so using it for its purpose it’s outstanding.

The focus is very slow - it is the slowest lens I ever had.

Excellent Macro Lens!
Very nice compact macro full frame lens. Much smaller and lighter than the 90mm macro.
