Just what I wanted!

I purchased this handicam "used" and don't feel that it is worth the full asking price that Sony sells it for. That being said, it is a great camera if you can get a deal. I have always been used to the traditional style cameras that have a larger frame. I was surprised how much more handy this camera has been. I have used it to film during a wedding and on my family's weekend at the lake. It is a great size for keeping with me at all times so I can catch all of the little moments that arise.

The HD video quality is excellent, although I am not a professional so my standards may not be as high as some. I try to use the camera in well lit areas because the video quality really drops in low light. The still camera has been another great bonus. It takes 4mp shots, which by today's standards seems low, but they print out on a 4x6 and look great. You can also take still shots while filming which I find myself doing often.

I wasn't a huge fan of the idea of 5.1 surround sound on the camera, but it is actually pretty cool when I play back the videos with my surround sound system. I've also changed the setting to 2-channel sound just to compare and it still picks up the sounds well.

On the negative side, the battery runs out quickly (a little more than an hour) and there is no internal memory. It comes with a 4gb memory stick pro duo and I purchased another 16gb stick, so memory has not been an issue and I actually like that it is expandable.

Another negative may be the smaller shot frame. I feel like when I am recording in a smaller area, like a living room, I have to back up really far to get everyone in the shot.

Overall I am very impressed with this little camera. I am surprised by the quality and "handiness" of it. The HDR TG1 will definitly be in my bag everytime I go somewhere and I want to shoot some film- and it's small size makes that easy to do!Read full review...

Exceptional quality Sony Handycam HDR-TG1 4 GB Camcorder

It is high end excellent camera. the quality of the video is unbelievable. Easy to use and very small you can put in your bucket. It is well made and super quality. I love it.

Great Camera… wish there was a charger.

Again one of the nicer pocket Sony cameras. Came w/o charger. Otherwise… great for the product.

i love it .Small,Sony quality,fair stills.i recommend wide angle lens.For dealing with mp4 format-there are free programs out there.
