I purchased this exact model back in 2003 because it was the best camera I could find on the market and I wasn't disappointed. It is a very reliable camera that out performs others I have used. The digital quality is superb and the camera doubles as a digital still camera using a chip which is included. You have the option of using either the color monitor or the viewfinder for taking video or photos, although using the monitor will use up more battery power. It helps to have extra batteries for those field shoots. There are manual and auto settings for many camera functions, you can use an external microphone or the built in stereo microphones. It also includes the Sony I-Link cable for transferring video to your computer, standard audio/video cable for connecting to your VCR or DVD recorder, headphone jack, and S-Video jack. There's also a remote control included with this camera (which I never used).

I paid nearly $2,500 for this camera over three years ago and I'd say it's still well worth that price. If you can get it under $1,000, that is a steal.Read full review...

One of the best Standard Def cameras out there for the price!

The Sony TRV950 delivers excellent quality that exceeds most standard definition cameras on the market. It has pretty much any feature you would want in a camcorder, and can be purchased in good condition for about 1/5 what it originally retailed for. I like to make skateboarding films and find this to be an excellent alternative to the more expensive VX series and delivers comparable picture quality with the right settings. It is advanced in what it can do but is also easy to use for those just looking for a hassle-free recording experience. The standard battery can last about 2 hours while an optional extended battery can give you 6 hours of non-stop use. Overall I would definitely recommend this camera.Read full review...

An older video camera that still gets the job done!

I first decided to buy this camera because I needed a good quality camera, on a small budget. From reviews I read, I found this to be an extraordinary camera. The original price for this camera was $2300.00, and I did not even pay an eighth of that. I have only had the camera for a day, and all I can do is smile. I bought this camera off of Ebay used, and I believe I got a good deal. The picture quality is great thus far, and I can't wait to buy a wide angle lens for it. Once again, all I can do is smile for now!

Tis is a great camcorder

This Camcorder was the best Prosumer model out there. The features are outstanding. 2 features I love the best that is hard to find on camcorders is the ablity to take an external source from the SVideo input and send it through the firewire to the computer, thus enabling you to be able to put analogue source onto the computer. The remote allows you to set the camera up on a tripod and then you can be in the picture and still control the camcorder. Also, with the remote you can film some great still action movies without worring about moving the camcorder during stop and start functions. Sick camera!!!

awesome camera, great for skateboarding, even better than cameras that are still in production. folks.. don't worry about the camera being 8 years old, as long as it's in good condition, it'll still be great. the camera has great sound, a massive led screen and an adjustable viewfinder which you can pull out so that a big battery doesn't block your way!Read full review...
