This is a good transcriber with good sound quality. It is generally very reliable but lacks an erase feature. They do have a common issue of the foot pedal jack coming loose so be careful when connecting the pedal. It has 3 backspace settings of off, short and long. Good, solid machine. Takes up less desk space than the Panasonic, which I bought several times before. Works well and hopefully will outlast Panasonic recorders, which usually last me only one to two years. Headphones included were not comfortable, so I used my old pair. Transcriber works well!!!

I'm so happy with this purchase. I purchased a refurbished transcriber from Amazon and it didn't work so I had to send it back. I was worried about ordering this because the volume didn't work well on my older one and the "new" refurbished one had the same problem. Reviews I read said this was a common problem. I sent a question to be sure the volume worked and got a quick positive response. It arrived and I tested it today and it's PERFECT!!! Sony M2000 transcriber's foot pedal connection does not work.

I purchased the used Sony M-2000 recently on E-bay and I am very disappointed with this purchase. The headset that was sold with this unit was actually new and works fine, but the used transcriber does not work with the foot pedal plugged into it. I tested the foot pedal with a friend's identical transcriber and it works when using the friend's unit, but does not work with my unit. It was represented to me as being in a good working condition, but it is not. This may be an isolated incident, as I previously owned a Sony M2000 and used it for more than 10 years without any problems.Read full review...
