Unique Design, Good Sound Quality and high portability- All rolled into one

I recently bought this from eBay. I was earlier looking for a wireless bluetooth headset but then I decided to spend the same amount on this. Its a unique thing actually and is really good. Totally value for money. Battery life is awesome. I charge it once after 5-6 days. Its a feature rich MP3 player as well. At times the design seems annoying because intially it takes time to get used to this but then you get addicted to this. Now I am using this more often than I use my Beats Studio by Dr. Dre...I would recommend this if you hate wires and like unusual designs. Sound quality is also above par.Read full review...

Perfect player for activity people

I was really afraid to buy this mp3 player. I thought it might be heavy, bother my ears, difficult to use while I'm running etc.

I run 60km/week and I was using a UltimateEars Super.fi 5EB + iPod shuffle every day. It was a great combination: simple and light.

Unfortunately I've had problems with my iPods. The "3 blinks of deaths" hits me on and on.

So I thought: "which is better: buy another iPod despite the fact that I had already lost 3 iPods or buy something new? In fact it was not really 'new', because I always used Sony Walkman since cassette tape" Then I decided to go back again to Sony.

My first impression when I received it was: "Wow, it is not big! It is very suitable!". I thought it was a little big but it is really not.

"Ok, but is it comfortable?". Well, this is the most important criterion for me. And I can say it loud: "YES!! Definitely!!" It is incredible, but I really don't realize that I'm using something in my ears while I'm running. 2 or 3 hours training and absolutely no discomfort. Seems like magic! I really can run a marathon with no problem.

"Ok, but what about the sound?". Well, using an UE 5EB I was not expecting a great sound quality. But, guess what, another surprise. The sound quality is absolutely decent. I mean: UE is 10/10, Sony is 8/10. I think it is a very high score considering UE is one of the best in-ear phones (especially for 'bass-lovers'). Is UE better? Of course, but Sony is great too, even without considering the other benefits that it has.

"And it is easy to use?". Certainly. Very easy even when I'm running at 14 km/hour. No problem at all.

"What about the features?". This point I rate "Good" and not "Excellent". Unfortunately I can rewind/forward a music. It is just next/previous music or folder. Zapping is interesting, but I don't use it too much. Volume + and - is easy to use too. I didn't like how transferred songs are classified: by name instead track number. So: create a folder, transfer musics and the player will play them alphabetical (not by number track). Create different folders to different albums is a good idea, because Sony can change to other album just pulling and holding the little lever on player.

"And the connection?". Well, using a Mac (Snow Leopard) is it very easy. Just connect and drop musics from iTunes to it like a pendrive or a storage card. BUT it doesn't delete the musics on it. In fact, I can delete them, but the player doesn't recognize it to give me free space to transfer more/other musics. To do that I need to format the player. I little annoying.
It was more problematic to connect with a Windows (XP). WinOS recognized the player at the first connection really easy, like a storage mass. BUT didn't recognize the player after install the sony's apps. As I do not use WinOS (just at Parallels on Mac), I didn't try to figure out how to solve it.

"So is it a good player/choice?". Indeed it is. I'm not sorry to have bought it. It is light, absolutely confortable, with great sound and very stylish. And it is water repellent (very important for prevent sweat/rain damage). "Buy again?". No doubt. The best player that I used for running. I really love it. Maybe Sony could improve a software for Mac users. It'll be nice.

Great sound, easy to use and money well spent.

Just what I was hoping for. Compact, lightweight and no dangling headphone cord. The sound quality is amazing. It was easy to upload songs from online music sharing sites and other sources. The electronic voice/beep prompts come in handy, regarding "On/Play", low battery, etc.
Highly recommend for those on the go and engaged in some form of physical activity. I use them exercising and for music practice.
If I would change anything, it would be to add a jack so I could hook it up to my home audio or car sound system.

Goodbye iPod Nano, Hello Sony Walkman NWZ

I would recommend the Sony Walkman NWZ W252 to anyone on a budget, anyone who works out, anyone on the go and anyone who wants to retire their iPod Nano. I bought this product because I wanted to have a hands free mp3 player while I work out. Its very easy to use. The design is simple and very productive. Automatically I knew where every button was without paying much attention to the manual. While using it the first time I could tell the products design was well thought out. The buttons are in the right place and its not too bulky. The on/off switch was planned very clever. Both right and left sides of the headphones have a magnet. You connect the ends to turn off the device. Then you pull them apart then press play to turn it back on. The sound quality exceeded my expectations especially for such a reasonable price. The Sony Walkman NWZ W252 retails at $59.99 new. Which is probably one of the cheapest music players out there. You get a lot of bang for your buck. I read that the battery life is up to 11 hours.I have only charged it once since I have opened the package. My only complaint is that its 2gbs. But its not really a complaint because I knew that upon buying it. Im looking forward to buying another one with more storage space in the near future. I will never go back to Apple again.Read full review...

Great player for active persons. Excellent value for money.

As an owner of the previous version of this player (W202) I pretty much knew what I was getting and I'm not disappointed so far, the promise of better tolerance to moisture/water/sweat is holding good while keeping the sony sound quality (above average) and physical features of the player (lightweight and nice comfortable design).

I still dislike the add-on feature (useless in my opinion) of the 'zappin/out', but as long as you stay away from activating it, it's fine.

I use this player for running and working out and is pretty comfortable and I don't have to worry about sweat damaging the player..even though I try to clean it and dry it after each use.

Totally recommended for active persons, runners, gym users. Great value for money.

sony walkman nwz-w252 mp3 player

I love pretty much everything about this player. it has great sound quality, no more cords to hang up in. I work in a warehouse where I use it the most and its awesome. I work in a freezer and a cooler and it still works fine. The player has so many settings on it that I'm still learning to use all of them really. I got all my music set up in folders. the battery life on them is crazy long. I would definitely recommend this player to anyone who is tired of cords.Read full review...

Brilliant invention

NWZ-W252, which is a cable-less mp3 player, is a brilliant music device.
It will be perfect for running, hiking, and even playing soccer or basketball, it is always stuck on my ears.
A couple of videos on Youtube give me strong conviction that non-eyeglasses wearer does not have any trouble.
However,I was worried about its firm-fix while running because I am wearing glasses.
The truth is, different from my doubt, the mp3 player does not cause any uncomfortableness with eyeglasses.
It is handy and the quality of sound is also acceptable.
Some issues are that it does not run for a long compared to other small mp3 players and only mp3 files are available.
But, it is worth to have it, it really makes your hands free.
Time to get rid of troublesome cables.

great for any physical activity

Pros:
-Awesome for the active lifestyle.
-Fits nicely on your ear but you have to get used to it for awhile.
-Wires are flexible.
-Has AVLS (volume control)

Cons:
-Sound quality is flat and no eq settings. It needs more "ooomph" in terms of listening experience.
-Software is not compatible with Mac OS
-It has a bit of a "toy feel" to it.
