GREAT CAMERA

This is the best mirrorless camera for the price on the market! I owned one for three years and then I took a picture during a sand storm. Something clogged up and it never worked again. But it is so light weight for the quality of the pictures, that I had to buy a new one. I have heard that the updated versions (A6300, etc) are sealed better, but for the nearly doubled price, I think I'll just remember not to take pictures in a sand storm.Read full review...

Overpriced for such old tech but great image and video.

Overpriced for such old tech but great image and video. Small, short-lived battery (buy 2 or 3). Screen does not flip forward for vlogging. No mic input. Does not work as native webcam with Sony's latest webcam software update. Bought mine to stream with via HDMI and an Atem Mini. Love the autofocus!!! I enjoy how easy it is to get good picture and video from this camera. Plenty of shortcomings but it makes getting professional images and video very easy.

The a6000 is and has been the best value, high quality, interchangeable lens camera under $1000 since it was released.

I have had FOUR Sony a6000 bodies. You simply can't get more camera for the price.
Small, light, very very fast with excellent image quality.

I'm a full time professional photographer that typically carries 3 bodies, 2 of which are a6000s.

The only real world limitations are extreme low light, or a need for ultra high resolution, beyond that, this camera can do pretty much anything.

All photos are by me, using the a6000

A converted from Canon, with a nice surprise! Good alternative to DSLR

I have been a Canon EOS user for several years - within a budget: the “Rebel” line, since Photography is a hobby for me not a job. After my XSi, T1i and T3i I actually bought a T5i on eBay but I didn’t open the box. I stepped back to think for a minute and saw that my investment on Canon wasn’t that much, just a few budget lenses and I was willing to give mirror-less a try. After all you can sell lenses on eBay for an acceptable price.

I sold my new T5i on eBay, bought a body-only a6000, bought a used NEX-3 kit with two lenses and sold the NEX-3 body. Now, after a few months with the Sony a6000 I don’t feel like coming back.

Why Sony? The concept of mirror-less fascinates me –I clearly see it as the future technology in the same way that digital replaced film. I don’t think Canon sees it the same way. I understand that it has to protect its huge DSLR customer base and EOS-M was lunched just to say “Hey, me too! I also have mirror-less” whereas at the same time I saw Sony announcing a string of models with this new technology. Also finding out that Sony manufactures good sensors for other vendors helped me to trust it.

The “pros” are still the same that helped me to jump in 1) a 24Mpx sensor; 2) 11 frames per second bursts; 3) all controls that you typically find on a DSLR; 4) a small size and lightweight but with a grip; 5) viewfinder (living in the sunny state the LCD is worthless) 6) two decent kit lenses: 16-50mm and 55-210mm; 7) an amazing ISO range; 8) good video definition and speed options; 9) a tiny articulated flash that does its job.

The “cons”. 1) The unbelievable lacking of a plug for an external stereo mike –the only option is an expensive mike that steals the flash hot shoe; 2) the inaccessible on-off movie switch is the worst solution ever designed; 3) the LCD could have a better definition; but the worst part is 4) that you have to overcome the shame of being looked as a tourist with a point-and-shot camera.

The unexpected “surprises”. 1) The Sony free app that converts your smartphone unto a smart remote control; 2) the unbelievable size of the pictures taken with a 24-Mpx sensor -6000x4000 pix at 300 dpi equivalent to 83”x55” at 72dpi- that allows you to crop quite a chunk of it with Photoshop discarding unwanted parts and still keeping a good large pic - who needs full-frame any more?; 3) but above all the combination of two features -the peak color assisting during the manual focusing with the mechanical ability –with inexpensive adapters- to mount great legacy lenses bought on eBay for a few bucks. Believe me –manual focus is addictive! By now I own more than a dozen old manual-focus legacy lenses for the price of a new one!

And of course, when you mount a one-foot long Tokina or Vivitar or Canon zoom lens on the tiny a6000 nobody looks at you as a tourist with a point-and-shot…

Great Except One Thing....

I enjoy the camera that I have purchased and it is in near new condition, however I have one thing to note about this product. I had asked if the model was a US model and after looking into setting differences that the camera should have including FPS, this model had the FPS settings that are available for models outside of the US and not the ones available for US market models. Also, the accessories included were European plugs, so I am certain that this is not a US market model. The camera still does what it needs to so I won't return it, but I just suggest looking into the camera more if someone asks what market model it is.Read full review...

Excellent image quality and portability

The Sony A6000 - especially at this price was a bargain. Great image quality, light weight and easy to use. Sony is taking their place as the SLR style body slowly fades.

Great camera, small, excellent image quality...very versatile.

This is a great little camera, and this Ebay price was exceptional. The camera is very sharp with a good lens, and there are many to choose from. It is a great carry around camera, great for street photography.Read full review...

This is a really good camera

I stepped up to this camera from a smaller Sony which finally gave it. This camera takes incredible pictures and is Not the Huge camera that is too bulking to carry. The features are very powerful. I am still learning to take advantage of what it can do but it is definitely worth the price - the 2nd lens is very useful - was able to get really good picts of a graduation from the back of a large gym with no problem.Read full review...

Fantastic Camera!

I'm so happy that I got this camera. It's incredibly lightweight, so you can take it anywhere. Lenses are interchangeable, just like on a regular DSLR. Image quality is sharp, and you can do a lot with just the standard lens it comes with. Thrilled to have found this little darling to take on trips. A+++Read full review...

Excellent camera.Would have been better if the battery was usable.

Since this is a Sony camera & I have been using an a5000 for some time it was not a big learning curve for me.
As expected it is a great camera for the price.
The only problem I have with the purchase is that the battery is no good.It won't hold a charge.Fortunately I have extra batteries anyway.Read full review...
