Misleading claims by Soundtraxx
I have not been able to test the Tsunami 2 decoder yet as Souindtraxx advertise this as fitting the Athearn GP38 & GP40 locos. I was going to install these DCC boards to replace the original Tsunami DCC boards installed by Athearn. When you come to install them they do not fit. The mounting holes in the Tsunami 2 is in a different place to the original Tsunami's. What a waste of $300.00! When I contacted Soundtraxx they were not helpful and suggested I wait three months while they produced Tsunami 2 decoders that will fit Athearn locos.Read full review...

Clarifying the previous review....
The previous review stating that this decoder doesn't fit is incorrect. Soundtraxx recommends a TSU-PNP 885013 for the Athearn GP series. This means removing the factory board and replacing with the Soundtraxx decoder. This review has NOTHING to do with the TSU-2200.
The Tsunami2 is a major improvement over the original Tsunami.
Soundtraxx released the Tsunami2 in stages - Not all board types were released at the same time which is why the reviewer was asked to wait a few months for the correct board. DO NOT base your purchase on that POOR review.Read full review...

Soundtrax TSU 2200 sound decoder
This decoder sound card is amazing.
Installed in a Bachmann EMD GP-40 Diesel, along with 2 mini soundtrax speakers. Had to do minimal clearance, and mounted speakers, one in front, and one in rear on top of chassis.
Start up is as real as can be, diesel sounds are spot on. All kinds of control over the spectrum of sounds.

DCC Lessons
Am new to the world of DCC and clearly is a rich man's segment of the hobby but after a demonstration of the sound and functioy decoders from my hobby shop I'm bound and determined to at least have a couple units I'm an old Blue box guy and am impressed by the advantages of DCC, teaching this old dog this updated trick is gonna cost but well worth it so anyone giving bad reviews need to consider owning your part in what went wrong such as doing your homework as there is a lot to learn and alot that can go wrong if you don't do the homework such as smoking your favorite engine and the expensive electronics.Read full review...
