Greatest film ever💗

I love this movie so much 💗 I've loved it as a little girl and my love grows for this Masterpiece as time goes on. It's kind of like alice in wonderland. . in a way. ♡♡♡♡ ☆MIYAZAKI is such a visionary and this whole movie sparkles my heart! I dare not spoil a thing and take away from anyone's experience. If unseen I strongly suggest to change that & thrill yourself to this gorgeous story. It's not only stunning but the messages & morals expressed are of great importance. Great movie to sleep to

Ok first off the title of this review may be confusing but in all honesty its true.

I first watched this movie (well tried to watch it) in 2006, i finally watched it all the way through in 2008, i would put it on to fall asleep to, and it worked.

The movie is really nicely made, the story is great the music is so soothing and relaxing that it would put me to sleep. I knew the first 10 mins of the film off by heart because that was all i got to see.

Great for all family members and ages, it really isnt scary even though it is mainly about ghosts and some of the characters look really creepy.

All in all i would recommend this title most of the Studio Ghibli titles are really good, I was not a fan before watching a couple of the titles but i am now.Read full review...

I highly recommend Spirited Away!

Spirited Away is one of my all time favorite Studio Ghibli movies. I highly recommend this film for young adults, adults, and its fun and magical story will keep the kids entertained as well! Spirited Away=Overhyped

Spirited Away, probably one of the most overhyped movies I have ever seen. Hayao Miyazaki is one of my favorite directors, and I expected what some people claimed "the best Miyazaki film". But they couldn't be more wrong. The movie is about a little girl named Chihiro, who has just moved to a new home with her parents. On their way to the new home, they make a stop at what appears to be an abandoned carnival. Chihiro's father comes across a feast and soon him and his wife start eating it, but Chihiro is weary and decides to look around. While she does, she meets what appears to be a young boy named Haku who tells her to leave before it gets dark, which is happening more rapidly than usual. When Chihiro goes back to where her parents were, she sees to giant pigs wearing their clothes instead. As Chihiro flees in horror, she realizes that she can't get back to her parents car. Stuck there, Chihiro gets a job at a local bath house for spirits until she can find a way to get her parents back and return home. The story itself is okay, but the main thing that kills it for me is how lousy a main character Chihiro is. For about 3/4 of the movie, she does nothing but whine and complain, and since she has an annoying voice, it is more irritating than usual. Not to mention, she doesn't do anything unless Haku is somehow involved. If that was the case, then why didn't they make the movie all about Haku, who was the best character in the movie by the way. Watching over and over again.

I love this movie and have seen it a dozen times. I watched it as a little kid due to my mom showing us. Now that I'm older I wanted to share the experience with my friends and relatives. A Modern Timeless Classic!

Anyone disliking this animated story is a boorish and ill mannered lout. This is Japanese story telling at its best.
It is present day and a family is relocating because the father started a newer and better job. They accidentilly stumble upon what looks like the remains of an old movie prop but it leads them to another world they never knew exsisted. Much to the dismay of the young girl who feels uneasy being in the place they discovered and begging her parents to leave watches them become pigs. She soon learns her family stumbled upon the spirit world and they are trapped in it. Eventually the situation leads to the girl getting a job in a bath house for wealthy spirits to save not only her life but the lives of her parents while she trys to learn how to escape the spirit world. She faces prejudice from the spirits working in the bath house and Baba Yaga, a greedy witch of incredible power who runs the bath house.
There is only minimal violence involved. No sex or nudity. This is a pure family oriented movie that will please young and old alike. It is not annoying like many of the Japanese "coming of age" animations that have come of recent or others where children are performing unnatural feats only expected of adults or having ranks in the military that are utterly impoosible for their age. No stupid over sized swords. No "I'm going to be better than you" dialogue at all either.
This is something that Disney felt good enough to associate themselves with. As a movie purist (granted this is only my opinion here) The story line, plot, transitions of situation, characters that were not only original but excellently potrayed, and the realistic approach coupled with rich animation and brilliant visuals is captivating and something that will leave you impressed. There is many cultural elements in it that are purely Japanese but many are explained as the story progresses.
A lot of what compromised this animation as far as content of the story was derived from Japanese folk lore. There is nothing like it out there and for family entertainment this is one that fits perfectly since it lacks sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Although not as tame as Kiki's Delivery Service it is not quite as serious as Pom Poko, both of which I HIGHLY reccommend, this is in the middle of the thriller Richter Scale.
If you are a family person rent it and watch it. I'll bet you will be buying it soon after that!Read full review...
