Great family friendly movies, from the early-mid 1980"s.

I saw the STAR WARS EWOK ADVENTURES: CARAVAN OF COURAGE when it first came out as a kid, but don't remember seeing THE BATTLE FOR ENDOR. It is good to have them in my STAR WARS collection now. They are both family films. Please be advised both of these films take place on Endor before Star Wars: Return of the Jedi timeline though. They may still be Star Wars-related, but do NOT have any real content (other than the the setting place of Endor), so this does NOT interfere with what is canon, legend, or alternate universe of Star Wars. The only thing I can say about the setting or anything associated with Endor, is the fact IF you may have played the M.M.O. Star Wars Galaxies, which had in that game alot of what may have been in these 2 movies...(examples: ewoks, the gorax, etc.).Read full review...

Ewoks Stories Made for Television

Though not canon, I wanted to see this. I saw the first movie as a child. These movies are not great. They are full of bad acting, continuity errors, and mediocre writing. It is still interesting as part of the Star Wars Expanded Universe/Legends. Give this a try. Children might enjoy it more. I love the Ewoks!Read full review...

Put these great movies back in print so people can buy at a good price!

These are great made-for-TV movies that slide right in between The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi. Some people hate the Ewoks, but I love 'em! And I think a fair share of people agree with me since they got two spin-off/prequel movies and their own cartoon series. These movies, and the follow-up series, were all broadcast on ABC, which is generally very family-friendly. They also have very high production values, in my opinion. Some of the sets/props/costumes were probably recycled, but I didn't mind.

The first movie, originally just called The Ewok Adventure, has lots of voiceover narration to introduce the Ewok characters since they don't speak English, and the adults don't get much screen time. It plays out a lot like a storybook quest with mild fantasy violence. There are strange creatures that are trying to hurt kids, and some realistic deaths. The second is more straight-forward, with lots of death right off. It's sad, but sets the story in motion. If you saw Jedi, or The Lion King, you're expecting it and so are your kids. While the first one was more of an adventure story, the second is actually a battle, with lots of fighting and violence.

All in all, I'd recommend this for kids ages 10 and up. Younger than that may get scared, or just won't understand the story. It helps if you've instilled in your family the importance of Star Wars before they try to watch this. If you're just now teaching them about the galaxy far, far away...slip this pair of movies in right before Jedi and expand their horizons a little more. It would be nice if it were widescreen, with 5.1 and some features, but for now I'm happy with this release.

It is a flipper disc, which is a space-saver, just be careful which side is up when you put it in and watch Caravan of Courage first. I was around 10 when I first watched them, and I just bought this disc at 39 years old. If you're a fan of the series, you'll love these movies!

New quality. Dad's blast from the past.

My dad has been wanting to show me these movies for years. When he finally remembered what they were called we searched everywhere for them. He was sad that we couldn't find them on streaming so I ordered this for our birthday. The DVD looked brand new and was wrapped in the standard plastic. At one point there almost seemed like there was a blip in the playback on the first side but it very well could have just been the recording. There were no other issues with the disk or the packaging.Read full review...

forgotten star wars

These movies were some of my favorite TV movies as a child. It is so fun to be able to rewarch them now as a grown up. Although they are silly fairytale stories they are better than some of the Star Wars content that is coming out today.Read full review...

Chronologically Incorrect.

Chronologically Incorrect.

I just happened to walk across this dvd, as i was searching for star wars items.
I never seen these offspring series, but loved them.
However the storyline is incorrect.

Disc has 2 sides.
Side a ( The Battle for Endor ) could be the ending of those series, as the little girl flies off that planet & say goodbye to the ewoks, and her father, mother & brother have been killed off in beginning off episode.
However on side b ( flipside ) ( Caravan of Courage ) they suddenly are alive & well & seems like they have just crashed there a couple off days or so & they 1st meet the ewoks.

Bit chronologically incorrect, so watch it, 1st watch caravan, then battle.

These episodes are GREAT for children.

If your kids love star wars, then they gonna love these offsprings, give it to them for there birthday or something.

Caravan of Courage - The Battle for Endor

When the Towani family crash their Starcruiser onto the planet Endor, the children, Cindel and Mace, are separated from their parents, who have been kidnapped by the evil monster Gorax. Now they must rescue their parents, but first they endeavor to befriend the shy, resourceful Ewoks, whose aid will prove integral to their operation. After the successful completion of their mission and the recovery of the Towani parents, the group must defend the Ewok community from the invasion of a foreign enemy. Cindel and the Ewok Wicket escape into the forest, where they meet a couple of people who, like them, have been stranded on the forest moon planet after an accident in their Starcruiser. Together the group does battle with the invaders, and tries to find a way off of Endor.Read full review...

Two of my childhood favorites!

Being an uber Star Wars fan, these movies have always been a gem to me. I like every aspect of the franchise, even Jar Jar doesn't bug me much! The Ewok Adventure was one of my earliest recollections for movies when I was just a young boy. Always will be a part of my universe, and we'll worth the watch, especially if you are a Star Wars fan who loved the Ewoks like I did.Read full review...
