I bought Stay Away Joe after watching the trailers on YouTube. It looked funny and Elvis is always good in comedys. The movie is about Joe coming home from the rodeo circuit after making a deal with a local congressman to let Indians raise cattle on their reservation. Joe throws a party and they eat the bull and then he has to find another. During all this Joe is chasing all the local gals and running from their boyfriends. The movis was filmed in Sedona, Arizona. It is beautiful country for the setting. It has Burgess Meredith (The Penguin on Batman) as his father, Katy Jurado as the stepmom, Joan Blondell the barowner, Quinton Dean as Mamie Callahan who tries to get Joe to the alter. The other actors are from older westerns and over all the cast is good. After watching this movie you can tell they had fun making it. If you are an Elvis fan you will like it. He is a woman chasing cowboy and gets to kiss all the girls. (Almost as much as Speedway) Overall I liked it.Read full review...

ouch ouch

First off, the makeup artist should be tarred and feathered. They made Burgis Meredith look like a cheap prositute. Elvis looked amazing and did the best he could with the material...which was horrible. I'd have to think native americans would find this screenplay offensive. If you can take it for what it is then watch it but if you are politically correct it will bother you. I love Elvis movies and will watch it again just for that but dont' look for any real contentRead full review...

Elvis Presley Movie Stay Away Joe

This is a movie not generally known about or seen even by Elvis fans. Puts Elvis in a new setting as a Reservation Indian in Arizona. The movie opening scenary is beautiful. The songs are good but the story is the best. Joe is a rodeo rider come home with some good news. Seems he's found a way to help the family through a government program.
