Not Quite Unplugged, But Close

The Rolling Stones never did an unplugged set on MTV's unplugged, but this is as close as they get to that. They play some of their classics in laid back fashion, strumming mostly acoustical to the likes of Dead Flowers, I'm Free, and Shine a Light. They start it off with a cool laid back version of Street Fighting Man, which isn't better than the studio version, but at the same time not worse. It's just a different look at a song you wouldn't think could be pulled off acoustically. But the Stones pull it off nicely. Also on this cool set are nice renditions of Wild Horses, Angie, and a nice cover of Bob Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone. This is what a lot of Stone's fans had been waiting for when this CD came out. It's not completely acoustical, but close enough to make you wonder why MTV never had them on, whether it was MTV's doing, the Stones didn't want to (they did it pretty nicely here without MTV), or it was a mutual thing. I mean there were such legendary acts such as Kiss and Neil Young, why not have one of the coolest acts ever to walk the stage. Oh well, this makes up for all that. Stones fans must have this one if they don't already, yet casual fans will enjoy these cool renditions that aren't any better or worse than the originals.Read full review...

Stripped by The Rolling Stones

I don't usually like compilation albums, but this one is different. The Stones give us 6 live tracks & 8 previously unreleased studio versions of some really great old songs. The selection is really good . So good that it makes this a very nice listen. A great addition to any Rolling Stones collection.Read full review...
