Les Stroud is the real deal!

I have the first season of Survivorman and have seen all of the second season. If you like camping, backpacking, hiking or hunting you can learn a lot from the situations and tips Les shares with the viewer. God forbid someone should find themselves lost away from any immediate chance of rescue but it happens thousands of times every year here in the states. If a person knows certain skills and has certain knowledge it could mean the difference between life and death. Years ago I went hiking in a large state forest with two friends. We got deep into the woods and followed what we thought was a marked trail and turned out to be a game trail that slowly got less obvious until the three of us were standing in the middle of nowhere. Worst of all each of us thought we knew the way back (and all the ways were different) and we split up. Bad move. We got lucky and all of us made it out after several hours at different points along a road but had we been lost for longer we would have been in serious trouble. None of us had any survival training. Since then I have prepared myself by picking up little tid-bits of knowledge along the way. Les Stroud is a treasure trove of it. From finding directions to knowing how much daylight you have left he teaches it all. If I knew then what I know now, we wouldn't have split up and most likely would have found our way out sooner rather than later and would have been prepared if we had ended up spending the night out there. It's Survivorman! No Food, No Camera Crew. Awesome!

One of the greatest series out there, take out the commercials, and it's just that much more awesome. Seen these episodes many times before on vhs, but the cd options just blow away the old vcr. Wish there was a Fourth season! The other guy who shall remain nameless has like 6, but he also has an entire production crew with him at all times.Read full review...

Survivorman at it's best

If you are a fan of the show, then naturally you will want to get this. This DVD has some Les' greatest adventures, including Labrador and Amazon. I was really looking forward to watching his Alaska episode as I hadn't seen it in months and am planning my own trip there soon. Not to mention Disc 2 has a special "Surviving Alaska" episode along with the making of Survivorman. A great collection for a low price.Read full review...

Good survival tips done in the typical Les Stroud style

I loved the first season and as a wilderness survival instructor its nice to see where some students get some of their survival information from. So that's why I had to get second season. The first season was still the best of the two in my opinion.Read full review...
