Another great 90mm Tamron

For the price it can't be beat. Each Tamron 90mm macro lens has been better than the previous model.... excellent job Tamron !!! If you don't need "vibration reduction", this is your lens. The images are sharp and clear. Similar models from the major camera makers cost hundreds more. So use that saving to develop those great pics you will take with this lens.Read full review...

Tamron 90mm f2.8 1:1 SP Macro

There're are a few options available when we're talking about true macro lens (1:1). But let's make a pro/ cons on this one:

+Pros+
* Great Image Quality (tack sharp, and excellent colour rendition)
* 90mm seems a fair macro distance to work for and it can also be used in another types of photography (f2.8 at 90mm seems very portrait friendly)
* Truly wonderful and creamy bokeh
* Quick AF/ MF system (push-pull the ring and you're there)
* Manual Focus Ring (smooth, good control)
* Focus limit system (FULL/ LIMIT)
[it can lock down the first half focus distance, or lock down the second half focus distance] --- I mean, you can use it only with closer macro distances, and the other way around, so you can get faster focus when you're using as a portrait lens as an example.

-Cons-
- Fair Overall Built Quality - I mean, it could be better built, more rock solid feel, rather than plastic feel
- Lack of IS (great when you're not using the lens for macro shots)

Simple conclusion, if you're looking for a macro lens, Tamron 90mm is a great choice.

Excellent lens and seller

The only thing I don't like about the lens is the lack if image stabilization. Obviously it is available on the more expensive version, so I made that choice, but it'd sure make things easier. Other than that, I love the lens. Good build and super sharp images. I have no complaints from the seller. Good value.Read full review...

Open box, awesome value

Crisp sharpness, even with Canon's AA filter which creates amazing detail. Smooth MF for scenarios where there isnt enough light for the Af. AF hunts a quite a bit in interior lighting, but using the lens in MF 80% of the time anyway, so this hasn't been much of a concern. AF is slow compared to wildlife lenses, but is fine for portraits and macro, where you're composing the shot more than capturing an exact moment.Read full review...

highly Recommended len!

I bought this len because i love to take macro picture. However, I have a Nikon camera, and I did not read carefully that this Tamron was for canon! I was disappointed. But my roommate has a canon, so I just want to check how the len is. The result is like amazing! I really love the len. This is one of the best len with reasonable price to take macro picture. Highly recommend! If I had a canon camera, I'd love to keep it.Read full review...

Ex' sharpness.well built.I have recomended this lens to several friends,

This is my second Tamrom 90mm Macro.I foolishly let a friend, talk me out of my first one.have had Canon 100 mm for awhile, but always wanted another Tamron,so when I had the chance to purchase one, took it.No regrets, its a well made piece of kit, produces pin sharp images,& works well as a portrait lens.
I use it almost exclusively in manual focus mode,as the motor is noisy,& not very fast.but its build & cost are unbeatable.

Tamron 90mm f/2.8 1:1 SP Macro for "Nikon"

This is actually for the Nikon version of the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 1:1, not sure how or why it came up Canon but thought I'd right this any way. This is a superb lens and I'm so so thankful I got it.

I actually spoke to someone that has both the Tamron 90 and Sigma 105 and was so glad I did since I wasn't sure which one to get. He told me he recommended the Tamron 90mm especially since the Sigma 105 makes a terrible noise while "trying" to auto focus. He stated that insects and the like don't find the noise very appealing and that probably about 1/3 of the time the shots weren't in focus. I've found the focus to be excellent on the Tamron. The depth of field is amazing with this lens.

I give this lens 5 stars and highly recommend this to anyone thinking about purchasing one. I was also very blessed that the person who had it before me barely used it and it was in mint condition. Have a great day and I hope you the best with your new lens. If you care to see some shots I've taken with it please feel free to visit my flickr photo stream. Works very well

This was a welcome addition as an entry level macro lens. I spent a lot of time hanging out by the butterfly bush and taking pictures of friends. This is a very user friendly lens. I wish the auto focus was a little quieter but it rarely interfered with the subject unless I got tooo close. Well worth the savings.Read full review...
