Tamron 28-300mm XR DI is a great walk around lens.

Tamron's DI series lenses are made for the digital SLR. There is a visible difference using this lens over Tamron's early model of the same focal length. I own a good number of lenses but because of the range this one covers it is my lens of choice when I am not sure what I will encounter. I have several good shots of bugs and flowers allowed by how close the lens focuses. The 300mm end is good for birds, people and sports. The 28mm end is a little long for some of the indoor shots I need. This lens is a little slow on the focus once you have gotten used to an AFS lens but if you have the money Tamron's latest version has the internal focus motor. This is the lens I have on my camera a very high percentage of the time.Read full review...

Lens that good for starter

Pros:
* Compact, short & light
* Vibration Compensation works well
* has lock to prevent creeping while not using
* Hood is included
* wide body - feel professional
* tested sharp up to 200mm
* smooth and better handling on manual focus barrel than 70-300 nikkor since the focus barrel is on the far end of lens. Nikkor 70-300 is heavy and located near the base.

Cons:
* slow zooming - not good for fast action sport
* soft above 200mm
* lens view moves when zooming - probably purchase a defective one.
* lens motor noisy as appose to nikkor 70-300 VR.

Overall, this lens is excellent for easy nature shooting.

Still waiting to turn in the first roll of film shot with this lens.

I would purchase from this seller again. I've only had the opportunity to use the lens with one roll of film, I've been busy. Works okay with my N90s but auto focus is noisey.
Now that I've owned this for a while and had an opportunity to use it, I'd probably not buy this lense again for use with a film camera. It works fine in bright sunlight but not so good at night with and without a flash. Used it at Indian Wells and the US Open in Flushing and photos weren't close to the photos I took with my Sigma and Nikon lenses.Read full review...

Tamron 28-300

I have used this lens (borrowed from a family member who will need it back soon - sniff) for well over a year and absolutely LOVE IT! It brings you up close to the action and gives great picture opportunities! It's lightweight and doesn't cause blurred pictures. Be careful when zooming not to get trigger happy and click the picture while you are still adjusting the lens, as that will get blurred pics, but that's operator error. This lens MAKES my camera~ I haven't used the lens that came with my SLR since I got this lens. I highly recommend it!!!Read full review...

Nice lens for my Nikons, so I don't have to use 3-4 len

The quality of the Tamron has always impressed me. I have a Tamron 28-300 for each of my Canons and my Pentax. I was reluctant to use it with my Nikon F80, but I've found it operates perfect on the F80 and F60 I'm sure it will perform just as well on the F75 that I have still in the box that hasn't ever had a lens on it. The quality of my pictures is just as sharp and clear with every bit as much contrast as the Nikon lenses! A big plus over my Nikon lenses is that I feel confident with it without needing to carry along 2-4 other lenses to get the same focal range and it's much much lighter to boot than some of them. I haven't gotten my hands on any of the Nikon digitals, but I have used the Tamron lenses with my Canon Rebel XT and gotten great results. No more Sigma lenses for me. I have run into several problems with Sigma lenses and they are of no help in getting repairs. One place that I asked about one of the Sigma 28-200mm lenses quoted me a price double what I payed for the lens! I have 4 DEAD Sigma lenses on the shelf just collecting dust now that won't auto focus and make grinding sounds when I've tried to make them auto focus.
Sounds like a commercial for Tamron, but I'm just another shutterbug and this is what I have found in the past several years using both. I do have a few Sigma lenses that are working if interested!
Truly, Rich

Ggreat little Lens!

This lens is lightweight and zooms from 18mm all the way out to 300mm making it a great all around lens for my Nikon D750. The few pictures I've taken seem to be sharper than i expected. If you're looking for an all-around camera lens at a good price try this little Tamron out!Read full review...

Great little lens for the money.

Good all around lens for full focal length of 18-300mm. At the 300mm length it is a little soft. You can't expect a lens to cover the entire focal length and be sharp all over. It is still acceptable even at that range. Focus is fast and sure. I use it on a Nikon D7000 when I do not want to take more than one lens on a ride. Light weight and adds no bulk over a 18-55mm lens.Read full review...

Great lens for the price

Great lens for the price, I do mostly video with it on a Sony a7s, but the pictures are good to, some vigneting on the upper corners when fully open and wide but it should be just my case due to adapters and not being designed for sony, if you are a nikon camera owner this main work just great.Read full review...

Ramron AF 28-300mm clean and fully functional

Sorry for being late!
A nice item, clean and fully functional

used lens, very much so but the price was right

The product was "used" and I didn't have high expectations beyond functional. The lens is tight, zooming is slow/erratic but it works fine for the money paid.
