Great Lens on a Pentax

Excellent value, particularly on Pentax that has built in shake reduction. F2.8 makes a big difference in viewing and flexibility for low light. I purchases mine used, which made it a great value of the money spent, but Tamron lenses generally are worth the money. In the 'day' Tamron has built lenses for many of the Camera manufacturers, including Minolta. Their guarantee is still the best around. This lens is no exception. I am enjoying its value.Read full review...

Peck, peck, peck

If you can put up with the camera trying to figure out where to focus you will love this lens. My only complaint may be with my camera. I find the lens to be like a good inexpensive prime lens across it's zoom range, with the wide end just off a good expensive prime. I thing that is exceptional since I got this lens new for $239. The lens is a lot of fun to use. I took a shot at 17mm straight out of my K5.Read full review...

A great lens for APS-c

It's a great lens! Sharp images even with low light thanks to a constant F2.8 aperture .
When used on Pentax Cameras, as they have the Shake Reduction built in the Camera Sensor, it becomes an excellent lens!Read full review...

Excellent constant aperture zoom

I had bought a used 17-50mm f2.8 Sigma lens in Canon mount at a photo show several years ago and always wanted one in Nikon mount. Both of these are non-OIS lenses which are of course preferable. But these are still sharp excellent lenses, but you need to increase ISO for hand-holding in poorer light.Read full review...

Excellent Lens

The auto-focus motor on my Pentax 16-45mm failed after years of use, I replaced it with this wonderful Tamron lens. It is sharp and works better in low light and is a great bargain. Seems to stand up against lenses over $1000.Read full review...

Great value

It has the specs of a lens with twice its price. Sharp images, a bit heavy and the zoom is not very smooth but overall great buy!

Sharp, practically mint condition

The perfect replacement for the kit lens. The constant, fast aperture is a godsend since I prefer shooting wide open, and the 3.5-5.6 on kit lenses is far too slow for my taste.

TAMRON SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II LD A16 for Pentax

I originally bought this lens to replace the stock 18-55 Pentax lens that came with my K-x. My purpose was to find a better low light, indoor shooting lens that wouldn't break the bank. I can tell you this lens is FAR superior to the standard Pentax lens. My indoor pictures are coming out much sharper with dramatically reduced noise and grain. Very well worth the money, I am so happy I pulled the trigger.Read full review...

Don't hesitate, great lens.

Has become my go-to lens for most general photos I take. Excellent focus speed and sharp pictures anywhere in medium range F-stops (as with most telephotos). Excellent closeup photos as well. Although not Weather Resistant, I tend not to put my K3 in those circumstances anyway.Read full review...

F/2.8 through the entire zoom... hard to beat at this price point!

I have been shooting with this lens for about 4 months now, and love it for everything as long as conditions are not too wet because it is not water resistant like most of my Pentax lenses. I use it mainly at night for low light shots, and it performs great! Good lens for a great price.Read full review...
