One of the best NES titles!

This game is one of the best on the NES. The music is excellent, it's fairly difficult when playing by yourself and not using cheat codes for extra lives, but not too difficult either. The graphics look great for it's time and there are more characters from the cartoon that you will recognize compared to the first TMNT game. If you don't own it you should definitely consider getting it. I wish I had this one when I was young.Read full review...

TMNT 2: THE ARCADE GAME! A LOT OF FUN, BETTER THAN ORIGINAL!!!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade game was a HUGE step up from the original. Made by Ultra (yet another fine Konami made game) this game took on the control style of the arcade version, which was more of a side scrolling fighter rather than that of the original which had a lot more variation as to level design and what you had to do to move on. This game is more straight forward. FIGHT! A or B buttons offer your normal attack. Both together offer the stronger variation attack. You can even kick your enemies through the air. What was really cool about this game that tied me in was that it tallied up how many foor soldiers/enemeis you kill. Every 200 enemies you receive an extra life. The counting up of how many enemies you've killed is pretty cool, because if you're playing 2 player, it becomes quite apparent rather quickly which player is better (or at least the one that's doing most of the work. Sometimes they'd lay off so they could get by without dying). This game IS very straight forward and it IS easy to pick up on. There is not much to learn as far as control goes. You'll get it down within a minute of starting up, but don't let that fool you. This game is quite hard. I really recommend playing it 2 player for a little relief. Your reflexes need to be good to make it all the way through, single or multiplayer. Believe it or not, when I was a kid, 10 years old, I was able to get through this game all on my own. It's kind of bidder sweet, because I don't think I'll be able to pop this game in and roll all the way through without incident today. Games back then were more unforgiving than they are today. It'll just take a little practice to get through it again now. I also remember that at the end of a long bout going through this game I'd build up a blister on my right thumb. It was from hitting A and B at the same time for the special attack... I was probably hitting them on a slant over and over again. When you're feverishly trying to take on an onslaught of never ending foot clan, economy of button pusshing kind of goes out the window. I believe aside from pizza pick ups, you'll have a few weapon pick ups. I'm not positive on that though, maybe not... I've played so many TMNT games that it's hard to remember which version. Interesting fact: I just watched a youtube review for this game trying to figure out the previous (weapon upgrades) and apparently this game came witha $5 coupon to Pizza Hut. Yeah this game was just on HUGE advertisement for Pizza Hut. You'll figure that out rather quickly once you start playing it. I don't know though, I think the Turtles would have preferred Toppers, but that's just me. ANYWAY, the boss battles force you to learn attack patterns and you'll come across a lot of memorable ones from the cartoons, like Beebop and Rocksteady, Crane, and of course shredder. There is even that fly guy, Baxter. You'll fight thos metal mousers as well. Being that this was an arcade game is was ported over to the NES system. Apparently the snow level is an NES exclusive level that Konami made. Apparently XBox Live has a version of this game, and it looks more like the arcade looked than the NES version. Wow, it's pretty cool. Check it out on Youtube. I wonder if they have it for PS3? Anyway, yeah, THIS GAME! It's great. HUGE improvement from the clunky original, as I've said. (Most people got to the van level and that was it). Lots of fun, very easy, but challeng!Read full review...

An NES and early 90's classic.

First of all, you don't have to love the TMNT to get into this game. This is a NES port of the late 80's arcade game, a sidescrolling beat em up featuring the ninja turtles.

The graphics are pretty nice for an NES game, featuring large colorful characters and backgrounds. The music is nice, mostly themes from the television show.

The levels are varied, featuring everthing from the New York streets to the Technodrome, and even some levels controlling flying skateboards etc.

If you have an NES, you should pick this up, it's worth the buy for sure.

Satisfying if sluggish

First off, the controls are excellent. The music and graphics are good for the NES as well. All four Turtles are here as well as your favorite Turtles villains. The only gripe I have is that there are too many boring foot soldiers to beat up and it really slows the game down. Besides that, the underbosses and the bosses are clever and different even if a little easy. This is a great NES cart that can still be had for a decent price. Read full review...

TMNT Arcade Review

Great NES port of the original arcade version, which hadles well. Graphics are great for the NES capabilities, althogh get to many characters on screen and you will expierece a little flicker. But thats due to the nes hardware. Gameplay is a classic arcade beat em up, and it controls well.
Great game overall and is recommended.

Nostalgia Factor

I grew up during the 80s/90s, so I was a huge TMNT fan. I spent so many of my parents quarters in the arcade playing this game. I bought this game mainly because of nostalgia, I highly recommend

Cowabunga!

This is such a good game. It's a pretty good conversion from the arcade. A few changes were made to the game, and I don't consider them game breaking. It features 2 new levels, and it's only a two player game. I suppose a four player version could of required power that the nes didn't have.

Oh well. :) It's worth getting!

Got what I wanted

Order 2 NES games, which both arrived quicker than expected. Good deal on both. 1 needed cleaning but played well enough afterward. Not a good judge of “graphics” as I’m playing an 8 bit game on a 1080p tv. The game definitely brings back old memory’s. Read full review...
