The Best Racing Simulator To Hit XBox 360

Test Drive Unlimited is the best racing simulator that currently is out for Xbox 360. The realistic features of this game are by far undescriable, beginning with the fact that this game takes place in a real version of Hawaii in which you can drive around the entire island in true distances by miles. Secondly, the vehicles that Test Drive Unlimited are based on real manufacturers and real models of cars/bikes. The sound that each vehicle makes is unbelievable in which it does sound like that of the real car. Many other features include buying real estate and owning multiple houses, modding your vehicle from manufacturers performance shops and paint shops, online play with thousands of other players driving on the island, story mode that goes in depth that tests your overall abilities as a driver in order to win and continue on, create an online club that allows other players to join and host races inside and outside of the club itself, challenge thousands of real players in hoping to achieve a top gamerscore in ranked online multiplayer matches, and so much more. This game is one of the best racing games to hit Xbox 360 and continues to be until Forza Motorsport 2 comes out in which it will be a close rival.Read full review...

A great gem of a game

Test Drive Unlimited is fun and entertaining, and unfortunately, also a bit underrated. The driving feels real and the attention to detail is amazing. You can even roll up your windows. the landscape of Oahu is nice and they couldn't have chosen a better location for the feel of the game. the driving is a little on the arcade side, but still mostly realistic. So players of any skill can pick it up without to much of a learning curve.

You can choose an ingame character, which most driving games don't do, and you can buy houses and things for your character. The game is also big on multiplayer and you can see other players from online driving on the island as you drive around, so the single play and multiplayer is pretty seamless.

All in all I think it's worth checking out for anyone who likes racing games or wants to try something different.

Very nice

I love cars and bikes, and this game has them both! The selection of bikes is actually better than I anticipated when I purchased it. I expected one or two bikes, but you actually have a choice of a few Kawasaki, Ducati, and Triumph bikes. There are also tons of cars to choose from. The scenery is well done, but can be repetitive (lots of trees, grass, same stuff in many spots).

The bottom line is, the game is fun to play, looks good, and has a fine selection of cars and bikes.

Test Drive Unlimited (Xbox 360)

I first played TDU on the ps2, and as good as that game was I was totally blown away by the Xbox 360 version. You first start out picking from a small group of people standing at an airport terrminal moving on out to Oahu, Hawaii. Then you start the game by picking out a rental car and doing a small tutorial showing you the basics of the game like purchasing a new house and car. The first cars you have the choice of are the F-class series which are mainly smaller slower vehicles but they do the job for the first set of races. After the tutorial your free to drive around Oahu at your leisure. And believe me this place is huge!! Its actually pretty much the whole island of Oahu in real life. You have miles and miles of exploring and driving you can do but its better to start off slow and compete in the races in your area and branch out from there. That way you can start earing some serious money to buy better vehicles and houses with bigger garages. You also have the option of buying and riding motorcycles but not until you visit every car show room on the island first. You can even cutomize your own character changing his or her facial features and buying clothes at any of the many clothing shops located around the island with coupons you earn for completing certain missions. This game is a blast to play online or off. Online is the better because you can drive around while other players do the same and challenge them to a race, or make your own club to invite others to join. Or they can invite you to join their exclusive club. You can communicate with others to on the headset when your within a certain range of them. But offline's not bad either as theres other AI drivers you can challenge to race. Offline has cops too. Online theres no police presense but you can still get wanted badges for driving recklessly and if you stop you'll still be issued a ticket. Theres so many missions to do at anytime you want online or off. Usually with races and missions the game goes offline for the challenges so no other players can disturb you but theres online races and missions as well. Some of the missions include delivering cars, picking up people and driving them to their destinations within a time period. Theres literally hundreds of missions and races to do to keep you playing this game for a long time. Theres lots of cars to choose from to from europeon exotics, musle cars, even your standard hatchbacks. My only complaints I have with this game is theres no night driving but the developers did that purposly to deter illegal street racing so I give them credit for that. Also the musics not that great but the games so much fun anyways that you won't care that much. All in all this is definetly one of if not the best racing game I've ever played so thats why I give it a 5 out of 5 stars. Its a great game for any racing genre fan or casual gamer alike to include in their game library.Read full review...

Not the best racing game, but good

What draws your eye in about this game is all the exotic cars you can buy. The cars look great and their are many upgrades possible, such as cand pain, new transmission packeges, new interior colors, but nothing that will drastically change your car such as in Need for Speed Carbon. Even though there are many different types of races, they dont provide much fun at all, personally I like doing free roam better. Some of the races are outrageous, taking at least 20 minutes to complete. also the cars drive very stiff so turns are not easy, and if they are not done 100% PERFECT you will end up spinning out off the road. It is a very basic and repetitve game. If you happen to do a vehicle transportation challenge there are some that you postively cant go through perfectly because of glitches, and doing them perfectly hands you an extra $40,000.

At first you will hate this game, then you will love it, than you will hate it again!

Nothing Really Special!!!

Pros
+ Nice online community.
+ Nice map navigating.
+ Love the 'over the dashboard' camera. If only I had some virtual goggles for looking around while I'm driving.

Cons
- No real sense of acceleration.
- No damage to your car.
- Controls are not responsive enough when turning or driving for that matter.

Comments
The online map is a great idea that is sure to catch on with other franchises but besides that 'Test Drive Unlimited' does not have much to offer race fans. This is no 'Burnout' or 'Need for Speed'. This is just an average racing game with some good ideas.

Verdict
Rent if you must. No purchase recommendation can be found here.

Great Experience!!!!!

AMAZING GAMING...it's not like just a plain racing game..but more likelly mission-based archade...so to speak. only thing I assume the rating is not high is...it is too much hard player required!!! too hard..i don't if there's any body who think it's too easy.. as for me, i had to spend over and over time to win the race and find the route... if you just want simple racing action style.. it's not a game for you. but if you just want to drive along the game.. it's graphic and feeling it gives is awsome and so much real-like.

it's hard..even in real world... only you to be a good driver as in real world.

Test Drive Unlimited

I really like this game based on real cars. Speed is actually real unlike other games. Pretty hard at some points but pretty fun. An yes there is police. This isnt like a need for speed where u can customize the car fully. You can customize the color of the interior an the wheel an rims an color of the cars though. from old classic cars to new ones this game is pretty awsome! You have an Entire Island to race on!Read full review...

It feels like living your dream life

Test Drive Unlimited is a game like no other. I never liked car games before, until I met TDU. Buying a house in a hawaiian island and starting to collect cars from all the major agencies in the world (Audi, Porshe, Chevrolet, etc) is something that I would love to do in real Life. Xbox 360 combines its power in graphics and processing to deliver a sweet mixture of fantasy and reality.

As you race in events online (in solo mode and with other players), you get cash to buy new cars and to buy new houses in different spots on the island. The fun part begins when you find another player driving in the streets in the island while you explore the map for new events. You can challenge him on a race, you can talk with him or even crash his car, just for fun!

I highly recommend this game, it is a must have for all the people that have a busy schedule and like to relax driving his yellow Lamborgini Gallardo at the beach.
