Tetris 2... unable to surpass the original

Tetris 2 uses a new game play mechanic that involves matching colors, instead of lines. It's like a mix of Dr. Mario and Tetris, however each of these games is fun and compelling on their own, together, they make you wish you were playing one or the other. It works well for what the game is. I wish there was an option to play the classic version on this cartridge but sadly it isn't an option. If you love the original Tetris and think it is the perfect game, I wouldn't buy Tetris 2. I suggest getting Tetris and Dr. Mario separately, because together, they leave a bad taste in your mouth.Read full review...

Not as good as the other two Tetris games on NES, but cheap and worth getting

Both versions of Tetris 1 are better than this game, but that doesn’t make this a bad game! Still fun, but the music could definitely be better.

Tetris 2 ROCKS!!!

I've been playing Tetris 2 for about 6 years now. I only picked it up at a used video game store real cheap and wondered how it was to play on my old, original Nintendo Entertainment System. Well, I played it EVERY night before sleep and did fairly well with it I guess for 6 years. Not too many people have played this game, since the original Tetris gained fame and stole the stage from Tetris 2 when it came out. But I was different. I liked Tetris 2. I wasn't big on the original Tetris. And it ends up, I wore my only copy of Tetris 2 out, so I had to look for someone on eBay that was selling it. If you're curious, it's nothing like the original Tetris except for the blocks...in shape alone. Because in Tetris 2, the blocks you've come accustomed to in Tetris come apart in Tetris 2. And the object is to target the flashing blocks at the bottom by landing 2 more of the same color on each of the flashers. After completing each level, more blocks are added to try to throw your game off. I have a high score in the upper 700,000's which I think is good, but not sure because I've not found anything on the web regarding players of this game. I LOVE it! Different style of game

It's designed like old fashioned Tetris (with new shape pieces) but it plays Columns, in that you have to match 3+ colors in horizontal or vertical lines.

Tetris 2, More of an after thought than a sequel.

If you owned Tetris and expected it's sequal, Tetris 2, to be even better you will be severely disappointed. Unlike in Tetris, the object of Tetris 2 is to match up colors to make lines disappear, instead of matching up blocks to form straight lines. Tetris 2 has three play modes, Practice, Player vs System, and Player vs Player, which is something the original Tetris did lack not having a two player mode available.

The game is interesting, and far more challenging than Tetris, but quite frankly I find it almost boring! The music is stale and the sound effects are practically non-existant unlike the exciting and upbeat theme of the original. NO rockets shooting off or little men playing the accordion after the end of each level either. Bottom Line, save your money and purchase the original Tetris version, in my opinion you'll be far more satisfied.Read full review...

Excellent For A Vintage Game

Tested today, came on without problems. Needed cleaning, but to be expected fora game of this age. Grandchildren are playing it right now, and it is keeping them quite.
