Charming cast

The cast (Jeff Daniels, Lauren Graham, Kat Demmings, Lou Taylor Pucci and an adorable Olivia Thirlby) make this unconvincing comedy drama about an antisocial writer (Daniels) who connects emotionally with a beautiful younger woman (Graham) and her child very watchable. The bare outlines of the premise are similar to As Good As It Gets, the Jack Nicholson as anti-social writer who finds romance with a much younger woman with a child movie. The Answer Man was apparently very well received at Sundance, but it's the kind of movie that doesn't hold up so well outside the rarefied air of the film festival back in the real world. The movie is fairly charming, largely because of the likable cast, but there isn't a single moment in it that feels authentic--and movies tend to not work that well if you don't believe anything you're watching. Great movie

I love this movie. If you have a sense of humor you will too. Not your common everyday story, really creative.
