This is The Beatles' TRUE story!

One look at "The Beatles Anthology" book, and you will not be able to put it down. This is the most definitive book about The Beatles ever published, because it is by The Beatles themselves! For the first time, you get the whole true story, as only the lads from Liverpool can tell it. It starts out with their humble beginnings, as 4 working class young men with a drive and desire to make it to the "Toppermost Of The Poppermost". Gradually, they would reach heights beyond even their own expectations. With Brian Epstein and George Martin guiding their way, the boys set out to conquer the United Kingdom in grand style. They wrote, arranged, produced and performed their own compositions. They became the rave all over Europe. Finally, they took America by storm, and eventually conquered the world. From that moment on, the world was theirs for the asking. Throughout the 60s, they created pop music masterpieces that no one else could even possibly duplicate. This book goes all the way to the end of the story in the Spring of 1970, when John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr branched out into their own solo careers, and became just as successful the second time around. At nearly 370 pages in length, it is an excellent source of reading material from cover to cover. Ranks as perhaps the best Beatles book of all time!Read full review...

Essential

From Publishers Weekly
"Who knows why the Beatles happened?" John Lennon asked in 1980: if anyone did, it would be the Fab Four themselves, who tell their own storyDwith plenty of visual aidsDin this giant compendium. Festooned with more than 1,300 photographs, posters and documents (many in color), the weighty (6.6 lbs.) volume offers the Beatles' "own permanent written record of events up to 1970," some of it previously published, but much of it transcribed from new or unpublished interviews. Paul, George, Ringo and Beatles-related folks (Brian Epstein, George Martin, Derek Taylor) contribute text from interviews conducted for the book and for an accompanying TV program. Words from the late John Lennon have been gathered from print, broadcast and manuscripts (each with an indicated date), then spliced together to create coherent pages and paragraphs. The book opens with the band members' separate accounts of their childhoods, then moves into a year-by-year organization that allows for great detail and many digressions. Here are what the Beatles have said, or say now, about particular sessions and gigs. Here, too, are comments and reminiscences on every topic in their career from marijuana to Manila to Murray the K, from Hamburg to "A Hard Day's Night" to "Hey, Jude." Most of the text appears oral-history style, in short paragraphs with rapid switches between one Beatle and another: the format makes it sound as if all the Beatles (including John) were being interviewed simultaneously. The visuals bring in cartoons, signed letters, scrawled drawings and photos. As a whole the volume is beautiful, big and a bit intimidating, somewhere between the Yellow Submarine and the Death Star. (One-day laydown, Oct. 5) Forecast: Do people still care? You bet they do. With massive publicity, innumerable tie-ins and enduring, worldwide passion for the music, this is poised to be one of the biggest nonfiction books of the year. Yeah, yeah, yeah!

A must for a Beatles fan

The book has many authors, mostly the Beatles themselves and also their associates. All the text is assembled from quotes and interviews. Expertly edited and coherently telling the story. One of my favorites I've read about the Beatles.Read full review...

Everything Beatles! By the Beatles! What could be wrong

Take 4 guys from England that changed the world of music forever and have them tell the story of their meteoric rise to fame and dominance of the music industry for decades and what do you have? THE BEATLES ANTHOLOGY.

John, Paul, George and Ringo made the music that we listen to today what it is. Without the British Invasion, we would never have had the development of rock and roll as it is today. Elvis and the Beatles, they are the fathers of rock and roll. This is half of that story.

The Anthology is a great compilation of photos, album covers, artwork, lyrics, personal stories, articles and everything else Beatles. If you like the Beatles, then this is the source for every bit of information about the first super-group. You can probably find other books out there about the Beatles, but this was written by the fab four; you really can't go anywhere else to get the information you get in this book.

What more can I say? The Beatles were the original. Their story is great, their music is great, this book is great. Fact, period, end of story.

If you are a Beatles fan, or love most kinds of music, this book is for you!

This is an amazing book! I have many books about the Beatles, Paul McCartney, Linda McCartney's photograph book, Paul's paintings and children's books, and love them all. But when I opened this, I could not put it down for almost an hour! This is primarily in the words of the Beatles themselves, and the pictures are fascinating, too! Even though I have seen quite a few of them, put into a chronological order, and with comments by the Fab 4 themselves, it is like seeing them all for the first time. And many of them, I am seeing for the first time! This is a very large, beautiful book, perfect for a coffee table, but expect your visitors to pick it up when they see it, even if they thought that they were not fans! So if you don't want to share, put it in your bookcase or hide it away! As you can tell, I love it, and can't wait to pick it back up and start reading again. I purchased this from a Seller that I have bought from before--He's a No. 1 Seller in my book; Everything is always packaged perfectly, and he is one of the fastest Sellers on eBay! To sum if up, if you are a Beatles fan, or just curious about the beginnings of what led to the music we have today, this is a MUST HAVE!!Read full review...
