An amazing album - a true 90's classic

For those loking to dive in to the 90's alt rock genre, there might not be a better starting point than this classic from Radiohead. While not as commerically successful as OK Computer or other releases, The Bends might be their finest work and the album true Radiohead fans showcase against all other (my aplogies to Ok Computer purists but really, this is n album you can really rock out to). A "harder" album and less electronic than OK computer or their later releases Kid A/Amnesiac, The Bends is full of hard riffs and well laid out lyrics. From start to finish there isn't one bad sone on this CD. Fans of Radiohead will recognize hits Fake Plastic Trees (a softer song but great nonetheless) and High and Dry. This amlbum features songs you can rock out to - Just and My Iron Lung and beautifully laid out tracks - Nice Dream, Sulk, Black Star and ends with the amazing, and appropriately named, Fade Out. A true classic and one every rock fan should take the time to listen to in full.Read full review...

A nice, mellow grunge sound; this IS music!

The Bends by Radiohead would be my fifth album from the British rock band. Having liked some of their masterpieces like 'Hail to the Thief', 'In Rainbows', and 'OK Computer', I purchased this album expecting a similar sound.

I was wrong.

From the first song, "Planet Telex", I was astonished by the mellow rock sounds Radiohead managed to produce. I fell in love with 'The Bends'; grunge music never sounded so good. If anybody downloads music from those P2P networks (which I highly disagree with), then at least don't download Radiohead's music; BUY THE MUSIC YOU LISTEN TO! It will be worth every penny, and then some.

The album of our generation!!

WOW!!! This album is so good it sends shivers down my spine!
Radiohead were one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the 90s though the follow up album to this ' OK Computer' usually receives most reverence, having been voted one of the top albums of all times by several respected British Music Publications!!
However, The Bends holds its own,it also a superb album and personally I find this one easier to listen to and more reflective of Radiohead at the time! Featuring 12 great tracks with standouts: High and Dry, fake Plastic Trees and The Bends; this album highlights frontman Thom Yorke's unique and talented vocal talents; while also showcasing the excellent musical talents of the band!!
This album will always remain a top pick for me, with a blend of Rock, Pop its a reflection of the British invasion of the music scene in the mid 90s!

9.5/10

I was slightly disgruntled when the cd case came a little scratched, but in retrospect that doesn’t actually effect the music at all. Audio quality is incredible, zero scratches, box art is wonderful, I am very pleasedRead full review...

My favorite Radiohead album.

From beginning to end, this album is a timeless piece of work that helped Radiohead to be taken seriously for their talents, as well as giving the listener a certain amount of comfort and uneasiness at the same time. Some of the best tracks on The Bends would be: "Fake Plastic Trees", a song that still sends shivers down my spine, "Street Spirit (Fade Out)",which will have a very strong impact on anyone who can understand what's being said,"Just","Bones", "Black Star",etc. If your just getting interested in Radiohead, I'd recommend this album, just because I think every song on it has a different magic about it.Read full review...

My Iron Lung

The Bends has become an Alt/Rock classic bringing to mind bits and pieces of many different bands going back 30+ years. I even see them giving a nod to The Beatles and Nirvana. I really don't think this is all that groundbreaking (many of my friends disagree) but it is a very solid set of flawless tunes. I like the albums after this more but this still deserves 5 Stars.Read full review...

Awesome! Better than Pablo Honey, not as good as OK Computer, but awesome!

Being a huge fan, I can't put into words how much I love this album. It has amazingly great songs; Yorke's voice in Fake Plastic Trees is sublime and so full of emotion. And Just, My Iron Lung and the mesmerizing Black Star make it seem like this should be two different albums, as other songs are not my favorites (Sulk and Bones, sorry). The Bends is better than Pablo Honey, but no album in history will compare to Ok Computer, and that's my personal opinion.Read full review...
