A great start to the start of what used to be a great show

I liked the first few seasons. The premise was great before Penny and all the girlfriends ruined the show at about season 4. I think 2 and 3 are the best seasons. The dorky people who never date and aren't cool is something they SHOULD HAVE KEPT. You NEVER see this on any other show! Everyone is super skinny and looks and acts a certain, prescribed way on EVERY other show. I miss Howard being a pervy dork. Just his harmless cluelessness cracked me up.

R.I.P. Mrs. Wolowitz. (The real actress died, irl.) She always made me laugh, sounds like my Italian house.

I Que

Although it's stereotypical intellectualism is a bit exaggerated the show manages to avoid slipping into banality, at least for the first season.
I like that it shows how intelligence is as much a obstacle for "exceptional children" as any other mentally challenging affliction.
How parents, teachers, and other adults are unable to guide those children or even understand them.
High intellect leaves a child isolated and alone without guidance. Told from the grownup view the developed idiosyncrasies of high intellect become understandable to the viewing audience thru the usage of well-played comedic situations.

Big Bang Theory

“The Big Bang Theory,” This more conventional sitcom has not one but two nerds as leading men, math brainiacs who live together and have no life until a sexy blonde moves in next door.

Television used to relegate the nerd to the role of sidekick or worst best friend; But now,the nerd is the hero, and he even gets the girl.

Homosapiens haven’t evolved all that much since prehistoric times; the female of the species still seeks the best provider, even if he’s the one with an asthma inhaler and a pocket protector who plays Xbox Live and collects “Star Trek” memorabilia. Today’s tool-using man is a tool.

Always Funny

This show is a gold mine of humor. I have all the seasons, but lost the first. It was fun to go back, and see how all,the characters, have grown, and changed. I had forgotten that in the first season Sheldon swears, and DOESN'T knock his three times on the door!Read full review...

Entertaining

Great show. Easy to see why they're on for 12 seasons and will be back for more. Funny and just entertaining. The DVD is a good pick me up after a long day and the show isn't on TV or any recordings left on TiVoRead full review...

Great Show :-)

The Big Bang Theory is a very entertaining show with a lot of laugh-out-loud humor and gags specific to each character. The pilot episode did a very outstanding job introducing the characters and tone for the show, better than a lot of other shows of its time. Highly recommended for anybody who's into comical shows with geeky (and excessively nerdy) characters and some romantic elements (especially posterior to Season 2). A++++
Scoring:
Comedy: 9.7/10
Storyline(s): 8.4/10
Visuals: 9/10
Characters: 9.5/10
Total: 36.6 out of 40 (91%)

I Got a Big Bang out of this DVD

This is a great show and I can relate to the story line. I grew up with these characters. In fact, I might be one.

Monday night open, thanks to season-one DVD's

I’ve only been watching the Big Bang Theory for 3 months maybe, only because there was nothing else to watch some Monday night, that I gave it shot. Now my Monday night primetime show-to-watch is Big Band Theory. There are 4 episodes on the season one DVD that I watched for the first time. I’ve played the full series three times over since receiving the DVD’s.
This past week I allowed myself to be redirected on a Monday night because the scheduled episode is a series-one; I didn’t read a book or something productive I just browsed the caverns of Ebay for obscure or outlandish items, just to see if I got a hit.
I didn’t realize the certain episode that was the pilot was its initial show for I had first seen it two weeks prior out-of-sequence. I so wanted to hear a second-time and waited unfulfilled for the broadcast repeat of Soft Kiddy [Soft kiddy, warm kiddy, little ball of fur, happy kiddy, sleepy kiddy, purr-purr-purr.], Sheldon’s favorite childhood song, sung to him when he was sick. Rahj is incapable of talking to women except when he drinks, the episode when this first occurred, I saw for the first time on the season-one DVD’s. Every character gets a little romantic tête-à-tête in series-one even Sheldon has a moment.
