Cast In The Name Of God, Ye Not Guilty...

Very rarely does an Anime come out, and over deliver on so many levels. At first glance, Big O seems like just another Giant Robot Anime, with nothing special to offer, but the complete opposite is true. A very complex story, more focus on human action and characterization, wonderful artwork and animation, a film Noir look and feel, and fantastic music and sound make up the "stage" of Big O.

40 years ago, "The Event" left Paradigm city without memories of anything prior to that time. People have learned to work machinery, and get on with their lives, but no one really knows whats happened, and whats going on. Roger Smith, is Paradigm City's top negotiator. He settles disputes between parties, and acts as a sort of middleman. And if things get too BIG for one man to handle, he calls upon his giant robot: THE BIG O! To save the city and the people who live there, along with his trusty butler Norman Burg, and female Android companion R. Dorothy Wayneright.

The first Season came out in Japan around 1999, and came to Cartoon Network around 2001-2002. A surprise success led to a second season, which is all that she wrote for the poor ol' Big O, which was out 2003-2004. For the COMPLETE series, you'll also have to order "The Big O II" set, also available from Bandai entertainment, and reasonably priced from this seller. Highly recommended, from a true fan who knows, and not just for Giant Robot lovers, but to ALL Anime fans. The story may confuse or baffle some, but that just means they don't have I.Q's high enough to fully enjoy this series.

"BIG O! SHOWTIME!"

The Big O - Complete Collection

This anime really takes me back to my childhood watching cartoon network. This is one of the most overlooked anime's of all time. However you never see the first season on television anymore. Anyway this show follows the adventures of Roger Smith, his android R Dorothy, his butler Norman, and his former commanding officer Dasdun. However Roger also pilots a giant mecha known as a Megadeuce known as Big O. The first season is pretty much a series of one shots where Roger assists whoever pays for his service to negotiate a solution to their problems. However nothing ever goes as planned and he has to call upon Big O to save the day. To put it simply this is one of the greatest anime's ever!Read full review...

Truly A Diamond in the Rough

This series had its debut on Cartoon Network. Machines, Amnesia, and a convoluted story all make this a must see for serious anime watchers. Here's the rundown:

Paradigm City has lost its memory after an incident 40 years ago. Now, it is like having two different worlds colliding with each other. Basically, it looks like it could be based off of New York City. The animation is sharp yet gloomy in its own way. The action is epic in its similarity to most anime robot action. The characters range from the being solitary, to corrupt, and to the most bizarre. At first it is easily discernable with how each character develops, but over time, each becomes more than what they really are. The plot is simple, but its execution is indeed anything but. I only give this a good rating because of its short run and the wait I had to have until the second season arrived to the states.

Overall, it is a must see for those looking for some seriousness from anime. In the words of Roger Smith: "Big O...Showtime!" Showtime indeed.

Short yet engaging anime for fans of mysteries, steam punk vibes, and great characters.

The Big-O is a very underrated but incredible anime. It's like Neon Genesis Evangelion in that newcomers think the show is about mechas, but is actually a psychological critique of the characters and their world. If you enjoyed the noir vibe of Batman: The Animated Series (animated by the same studio!) and the psychological whodunnit adventure of Paranoia Agent, you should check out The Big-O.Read full review...

The Big O

My personnel favorite anime. I am not a big anime fan but when i caught an episode on cartoon networks adult swim i was hooked. Roger Smith is like japans bruce wayne and instead of dawning the bat costume, he pilots a megadeus(giant robot) named Big O. He uses Big O to fight the other megaton monsters and robots that wreak havoc on Paradigm City. The catch is everyone has no memory of what happened pre 40 years ago. Roger Smith the negotiator is piecing together in this SciFi thrillride what happened 40 years ago and is trying to restore these memories. Cast In The Name Of God.... Big - O

Great anime series for any true anime fan. I like the old look of a futuristic city that has collasped and everyone has amnesia, so nobody knows what happened to their city and how it works and what the outcome will be.Read full review...
