Excellent suspense/police thriller

At the time THE BONE COLLECTOR was made, Denzel Washington was Hollywood's top leading man, but Queen Latifah and Angelina Jolie were relatively unknown newcomers. Watching this movie, it's easy to see why both actresses eventually made it big. Denzel plays a well-known police investigator and author who becomes a quadriplegic. He thinks he wants to die --- until he's confronted by a killer and decides to fight back. (If you're a quadriplegic who thinks you're defenseless, pay close attention to what Denzel does at the end; it's astonishing, yet possible). Queen Latifah, as Denzel's in-home care provider, delivers one of her finest dramatic performances. She truly becomes her character. Jolie is also incredible, because this is not her typical role. Often, Angelina Jolie plays herself: first the crazy wild-child she was during her marriage to Billy Bob Thornton (GIRL INTERRUPTED; GIA), then the strong woman taking on the world by herself (THE CHANGELING; TOMB RAIDER; BEYOND BORDERS). In THE BONE COLLECTOR, Jolie is a good police officer and a good woman, but she is not an independent crusader. She functions as Denzel's surrogate body, going to crime scenes he cannot visit and reporting back. Denzel is the brilliant investigator, while Jolie has potential but is often unsure or unwilling. She is just as dependent on him as he is on her. The actors portray this relationship very believably. THE BONE COLLECTOR is also a great mystery. You probably won't guess the killer's identity until Denzel does.Read full review...

Chilling, but intriguing.

I don't even like Angelina Jolie, but she shine in the Bone Collector. One of her earlier films, shows a young Jolie portraying a young cop who gets sucked in on a case that will stretch her skills and her will to their limit. Denzel Washington never fails to amaze. A great movie, but too gory for anyone under 18.Read full review...

The Bone Collector

After an accident in a tunnel, a forensics expert is left as a quadriplegic who is able only to move his head and one finger. Setting his finger to a computer, he is able to manipulate his environment with the help of a loving nurse. Even so, fearing seizures that could leave him a vegetable, he plans his "transition" with the help of a hesitational doctor friend. That all changes when he is confronted with clues from a serial killer that obviously are pointed to forensics investigation. The case clearly re-invokes his interest in life. A sharp, young cop's quick thinking saves the first crime scene. Recognizing her talent for forensics, he brings her unwillingly into forensics detection. Through radio contact, she becomes his eyes and legs on the scene. Michael Rooker also appears as the police captain, who has bungled earlier killings by the serial killer and is more interested in the press than in good police work. Ed O'Neill and Luis Guzman are support staff who aid Washington and run interference with Rooker. This is a great movie with a great storyline and great actors. This movie had me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire movie. A movie that will keep you guessing and all though it. Very entertaining thriller.Read full review...

Horrific but makes one think about safety in every day activities.

Denzel Washington is always good but it was obvious Queen Latifah would go further and same with Angelina Jolie.

Greatness Seen Together

Any time Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, Queen Latifah are in any movie you can guarantee a good movie. To have all 3 together in 1 movie was an outstanding movie I recommend to all to watch.
