I read this book years ago in one evening. I usually have a hard time forcing myself to read a book but I could NOT put this one down. A beautiful love story but a tear jurker too. Simply an awesom story. I never would have cast Clint Eastwood as the leading actor in this story but surprisingly he did an amazing job. Hard to think of him as a gentle kind man after so many western hard guy parts but he surprised me. This is a great story to add to your collection if you are a romantic. A wife and mother of two children finds herself home alone on the farm for a few days while her family has gone to a fair. A famous photographer happens by and a forbidden romance occurs. The woman is torn between her family obligations and this new love that she could not fight nor deny.... A must see!Read full review...

Connections and Soul Mates

I do like this film. If you believe in that "one special person" or soul mates you will probably like this film as well.

It reminds me of connections to the past and that when you care for someone, no matter how far away or how long it's been since you've seen them, there's always a connection.

It's a very sappy film and would probably be classified as a "chick flick". However, it is timeless. I've never been one for romance books or novels and this film comes close to those. Yet this film is so well preformed and is a theme that creates such emotions that it's easy to forget the sappy bit.

I would recommend it to anyone who has a long lost love, or just think that they do. It harkens those feelings of the past and of great love. It reminds you that there are connections to another.

It can drag a bit and it is depressive and it's not a feel good film. It's also not a very intellectual film. It does deal with a theme that not all of us get. So I give it a 4/5. It's far better than the book, which for some reason, was a best seller in the early 1990s. Maybe it was an Ophra book?

I would recommend it's purchase for a your film library. It's excellent when you are feeling good and sorry for yourself.Read full review...

Must have in EVERY MOVIE LIBRARY!

Sometimes you need to be swept up in a movie like this. Whether you can relate to these characters or not, if you have been lucky enough to find your soulmate, you will fall for both
Meryl Streep & Clint Eastwood. Especially Meryl and her Italy to Iowa pain. Of course, we have
come to expect nothing less from her. I have been blessed to live this movie so it's no surprise
I find I must watch it a couple times a month. Please do yourself a favor and see this wonderful

Get the tissues.

If you are not used to showing your partner your emotions, you might want to make your first viewing of this film a solo act. It is NOT Mr. Eastwood's normal genre and he pulls it off wonderfully. A very good love story. This movie illustrates Clint Eastwood's versatility and represents the accidental love that has occurred in the lives of ordinary people. Co-star Meryl Streep is spectacular and they may have played their best roles ever. I love the westerns and Dirty Harry, ect. But Clint Eastwood is something else in this movie. Loving someone so much and never letting go.....

OMG.... I could recommend this movie to anyone, but I know to guys this would not be of any intrest.... I have watched this movie a million times and still cry over the same scenes. I know what it feels like to be so alone and shut out of things in general and then have that one person come into your life so unexpectably and put such and impact on your life that no matter how many years go back they still hold a place in your heart, your soul that can never be taken away....
Words cannot describe this movie, its just one of those have to see it type things.....

Short-lived, but forever-lasting love affair

I bought this DVD because I had read the book several years ago. It tells a story of a woman who is trapped in her present being co-existing in a passionless life, with a husband and two children who are unappreciative... until one day a stranger (professional photographer) arrives asking for directions to an old covered bridge. Her husband and children had gone away for a week and during their absence is when Meryl Streep begins her short-lived, but forever lasting love affair with stranger Clint Eastwood.

The Bridges of Madison County

Absolutely one of my favorite all-time movies. The performances by Eastwood and Streep are brilliant. Eastwood also flawlessly directed with perfectly timed fast forwards to the present time. Everything about this movie rings true... from the heart wrenching emotions of love that cannot be to the confusion of trying to understand events that happened long ago and how it has shaped the lives of the children involved in the story that did not even know any of it took place. Bridges Of Madison County is a tender, touching movie. I cried like a baby. Meryl Streep is one of the greatest actresses of our time & not to mention Clint Eastwood, he was great also!

This particular movie dvd cannot be found in any of my local dvd stores which is why I bought it on eBay. Am a huge fan of Meryl Streep and her acting abilities. The movie is romantic about the one true love that got away. Has a sad ending so make sure you have a box of tissues nearby. Quality of the dvd is excellent, color too, and so is the sound.
