The Deer Hunter or The Journey To The Center of Boredom

After hearing so much about how awesome this movie was I saw it for myself. This boring experience was worse than doing arts and crafts with my grandmother, or indulging in underwater basket weaving courses. Nothing made sense and it was drawn out way too far, yes I understand the emotional value between Walken and Deniro, but there were too many worthless insignificant events leading up to that for me to really even care, and what in the hell is the deal with all of the russian roulette, makes no sense at all. Don't waste your time, and don't buy this one.

Recommended Movies That Are Actually Good:
Downfall
Stalingrad
Patton
Schindler's List
Apocalypse Now Redux
Cross of Iron
Dr. Strangelove

The Deer Hunter

What I like about this movie; is it's honesty. I find it very accurately identifies the real people in the United States. Not the crap that gets pumped out of Hollywood. Just the same people you'd meet comming out of a theater after watching a bad movie and the comments that you'd hear, things that you could identify with and say; fu*kin A.

I bought this movie to show to my boss at work. The scene in the P.O.W. hut over the water. The North Vietnamese officer kept spinning the chamnber of the revolver and hands it to Michael, then to Nick and kept asking MOW..MOW! It reminds me of where I work now...they always want MORE.

The ending turns into a dark musical protest. I had forgot that Meryl Streep sings; quite a subtle version.

I think most Vietnam Veterans can identify with this movie. It connects a lot of dots for most people, I'm just one of them.

Interesting detail; when Michael comes back from Vietnam the first time, the tires on the roof of his trailer home are gone...probably eaten by porcupines.
