Get Equalized

Edward Woodward reprises his role as a cloak and dagger operative that he made famous in the 1960's series Callan. The Equalizer is the 1980's series that brought sophistication to the US TV screens in the time of the A Team and the Dukes of Hazard. Woodward brought British panache and style that reflected the spy genre of the 1960's to the background of modern day United States. He played Robert McCall an ex Agency spy who became a one man detective army against the worst that New York City could through at him. Robert McCall is an anti hero that is in a similar mould to Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry, he doesn't follow the word of the law he gets results. Together with one of the greatest TV themes, by The Police's Stewart Copeland, from the 1980's I can't recommend this series enough. Now if only the whole of Callan was released on DVD.Read full review...

The Equalizer: great American television.

I had been looking for this release, a somewhat obscure title, because I really enjoyed watching this series. The show’s premise was intriguing, characters were great and the writing was consistently good. The title character Robert McCall, played convincingly by Edward Woodward, made for a great viewing experience. The supporting cast, which included Robert Lansing, one of the all-time greats of American television, was a classic series ensemble of characters, that regrettably had such a short run.

It was surprising that it was hard to find a copy of this set. Patience was rewarded when after a couple of weeks with no hits on Ebay, two copies appeared simultaneously on the site. This DVD set will make a great addition to any personal library of great American television.

The Equalizer, Season 1 (2008 DVD)

This guy is so cool and British! Edward Woodward plays Robert McCall, a former government agent who is writing the wrongs of the legal system. He helps innocent people who feel they have nowhere else to turn to. This DVD has all 22 episodes of the first season in a nicely packaged box. This show is a murder-mystery and will leave you on the edge of your couch till the final end of each episode. I can't wait for season 2 to come out on DVD. This is a quality show for the whole family to watch.Read full review...

Real locations in NYC, great music, consistently good writing, wonderful character development, and the brilliant Edward Woodward acting the lead. I couldn't ask for more.
