Forget the Theatrical Version...

...if you view "The Forgotten." The rendition of this film that was chosen for theatrical release plays much like a long episode of the X-Files. Now, I 'liked' the X-Files, but I found this film's extended version with "alternate ending" (available on the CD) to be much more plausible & palatable. However, I guess it just wasn't flashy enough. American audiences prefer their aliens to be a bit more sinister. Gotta have that whole good guy vs. bad guy thing going, ya know? No ambiguities allowed.

Julianne Moore stars as "Telly," and gives a wonderful performance, as usual. Supporting cast includes Gary Sinise, as her psychiatrist. Others include Alfre Woodard as a NYC cop whose character seems to have been left mostly on the cutting room floor.

It's hard to write much about this film without giving most of its secrets away. Suffice it to say that you may not sleep particularly well immediately after viewing it. Decidedly not for younger viewers.

Good enough, but not great. Put it on your list, down a ways.

Category: Science Fiction

This was a pretty good movie if you're into sci-fi drama. At first I didn't realize it was, but when the mystery of it all plays out to involve 'alien abductions' you get a better perspective of what type of movie you're really watching.

It begins with tragedy but ends well...kinda predictable, but glad that it did end on a good note. I didn't like that it leaves several details unfinished regarding certain characters, especially the 'father figure', but he was pretty much written out early on anyway. Can't really give many more details because I'd give too much away if you haven't already seen it, but the plot is clever enough to be engaging and I'd say worth watching.

As far as purchasing it, might want to rent it instead, unless you can get it for a really good price...

Good movie

Movie was entertaining and kept my attention. One of those movies you have to finish to find out what, when, why and how. I was disappointed in parts of it but ending was good.

The Forgotten

I bought the cd ~ The Forgotten, because it is an excellent movie that keeps you always wondering about the underlying possibilities that can actually existing in and upon the real world. What our everyday perception would assume is the real world. What is really real, who actually controls our lives, our actions are freedoms and where they ever really solvent let alone viable?

It almost seems like a kitten playing with a ball and yarn. Never really caring what comes of it or even worse how it got there to begin with, so excepting and engrossed in its play. Why are we always so excepting, of Elite Explanations...

When did complacency to hierarchy become so easy

In a World of higher learning, where think tanks take socialistic control to the brink of extinctions so long forgot, lies a truth so silent that we on the everyday field of neutral understanding and cheeseburgers are kept forever ... in the dark.

Let us always remember that within every fable told, stands unwavering - the threads of silent truths whispered... but never spoken.

Overall for me, it is an excellent choice.

Absolutely great... until the end.

This movie very skillfully builds up suspense. You become very emotionally involved with the character. In the end, the movie falls apart because neither the standard or directors ending offers a complete explanation. I personally find it cheesy that, to get rid of the helpful officer, she was sucked into the sky. The ending has too many holes. I only give it a 4 because of how strongly it started and continued to build. The end isn't a total letdown, but it does feel as if something was...forgotten.Read full review...

Theatrical Ending

Some liked the alternative ending but I did like when alien dude was ripped away as being reprimanded apparently for taking an experiment just a little too far- for Gods sake, just give her kid back already, no way is she EVER going to forget! And it was probably the best scene, but why did the nice police officer lady have to get ripped away into the sky?Read full review...

Movie & Soundtrack Are Superb

Excellent cast with strong performances by Moore, West, Roache, and Woodard. Suspense & the unexpected combine to keep viewers on edge. Upbeat ending. Although not a big fan of such films, I consider this to be one of the best I've seen in a long time. If some scenes don't literally jolt you, check your pulse! I LOVE the soundtrack -- bought it and listen to it often. I highly recommend it too.Read full review...

Suspence Thriller.

Wow what can our government agents do next? Or is it our Government agents or something else? To loose a child and being told you never had one? Best watch to find out for yourself.

Watch the Extended Version!

I actually first saw this at the movies, and was fairly unimpressed. While the cinematography is excellent, the ending did little to wow me, and I left feeling a little cheated.

Upon getting the DVD I watched the extended version, with an ending not released in the theatrical version. Boy what a difference! The ending made more sense, and I was left feeling like that was worth the time.

My vote? Watch the dvd extended unreleased version!
