Still funny after I saw it 20 years ago!
A very funny film which hasn't lost its edge. Funny from the beginning to the end the thanks to the the performances of Walter Matthau & Jack Lemmon. They were a dream duo!

"Great Comedy!"
Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau star in this 1974
comedy based on the play. A newspaper editor talks
his best reporter into doing a story on a prisoner
facing execution. Jack and Walter were terrific in
this as usual and this dvd has nice picture and
sound, but no extras. I recommend this great
comedy.Read full review...
His Girl Friday is probably a better version of the story
Not the best Matthau-Lemmon-Wilder collaboration and Carol Burnett is wasted in her role.
FRONT PAGE - PRIMA PAGINA
Read full review...
Good, but just a familiar story
I love these actors, but this is the same story as Cary Grant's "His Girl Friday". No one can top Cary Grant's delivery and the twinkle of his eyes as he tricks Hildy into staying in the game, not even Jack Lemon and Walter Mathau, beloved team as they are. It's a good movie, but it can't beat "His Girl Friday".Read full review...
