Enjoyable Edwardian-era ghost stories
I purchased this to read with the on-line 19th Century reading group I belong to. (Unfortunately, there are several of the stories the group is discussing which were not included in this version of the book.) I enjoyed reading the stories anyway, which are quite interesting . . . much more enjoyable than I usually find Edith Wharton's books (since they tend to have a rather dismal storyline). In ghost stories, a dismal ending works perfectly! The stories are short; this is not serious, in-depth reading or character studies, just moderately creepy fun.Read full review...

Well and creepily illustrated.

Ghost Stories
This is a normal Gothic book, full of suspenseful ghost stories. I bought if for my Senior Seminar. It is not as good as Poe or Hawthorne. If you like any form of Gothic literature or if you like a good ghost story, you would enjoy this book.Read full review...
