Unexpected

It was a great read. Read until 3 am! Haha. The book took on a more violent and harsh environment with Collins detailing every death scene explicitly. The deaths of some of the main characters were unforeseen, and the exposure of the real truth at the end was unexpected. Although Peeta and Katniss got together at the end, the book clearly did not end on a full good note, which is completely realistic based on the magnitude of sorrow and trauma they took. Readers can't just expect the both of them to recuperate from the events in an instant, and have their cliched ending of "happy ever after" fulfilled. Yet it was a great read all throughout!

P.S. Liked the first book though the most! Live "The Hunger Games"

The title sums up the third book in the series. Great!

The final book in the Hunger Games series is even more gripping and exciting than the first two which were amazing in themselves. Katniss Everdeen, the heroine, has an extremely difficult journey to undergo. She is a very brave 17 year old girl, but she often doubts her choices and actions. This undercurrent is part of what makes this such a wonderful book. She is strong and fights hard but continually wonders how her actions are adversely affecting the people in her life and the people she loves. Suzanne Collins keeps us guessing right up to the end in regards to what people will stay in Katniss' life. As with the other two books in the series it has a great deal of violence and cruelty, but they are necessary in order to tell the story. It is wonderfully written but I would not recommend it to anyone under the age of twelve. For anyone who enjoys stories where goodness finally wins, with a little magic and a lot of blood, this is the book for them.Read full review...

Loved the book!

I bought this book for my 14 year old son. The first book in the 3 book series, the "Hunger Games" was on his summer reading list for school. My son is not normally a fast reader but he loved this book and flew through it. Since then I bought the other 2 books in the series including the is one. I was so intrigued by how this and the other books captivated him that I read each book when he finished. Even though these books were made about teens (main characters), it was an excellent book for an adult to read. The content was fairly mature. Nothing graphic but included the horrors from war, segregation and oppression of people. It also included a conflicting romance. Again, nothing graphic.Read full review...

A Wonderful Conclusion to an Epic Series

I bought this because I was hoping for a great deal and a wonderful conclusion to this magnificent 3 part series.
I loved the book, I couldn't stop reading it. It is a wonderful series and has a an epic conclusion as hoped for. The book appeared to be in perfect condition. I cant even keep a book in this good of condition without more ware and tare. The hardcover is very nice, especially since its over 300 pages, and overall just lasts longer.Read full review...

Starts out fairly slow-but a good read.

Glad I finally got around to reading the 3rd Hunger Games book. Started out a little slow, but got better. Many new names to remember, and some old names I forgot who they were.
I'll miss Katniss Everdeen...Read full review...

Worth finishing the series

The final book does a good job of showing the effects of the war on all fronts. I didn't like how clueless Katniss continued to be throughtout the book when it comes to Peeta/Gale and how war works. Despite everything she and everyone else went through she still had this annoyingly naive and childlike view most of the time. Her constant back and forth views and sometimes downright ungrateful and spiteful actions were sometimes hard to get through. I would have liked for the ending to have been more detailed and much less abrupt like the writer was tired of this story and just decided to say a b and c happened the end.Read full review...

A complete let down

What an absolute let down. After reading this book I was upset with myself for reading the first two. I got the feeling that Collins quit thinking after the second book.
It is anti climatic, boring, and dissappointing.
The story continues where book two ends, the revolution is underway and army training in District 13 is being conducted. The first 24 chapters builds you up for this highly anticipated show down. Then over the next three chapters, Katniss (who has the least amount of training and experience) is in charge. Although the story starts loosing it's plausability you read on, then right when the most important battle of the history of Panem takes place, she's unconcious, wakes up after the battle and we missed everything. Then she has a change of view and the story takes place without her for a chapter. The final chapter tells us what went on but it is such a let down and so dissappointing I have no desire to even see the movies when they come out.
Bottom line it was a waste of time.

Great Read for Fans of the Series!

If you're a fan of the series, you'll probably like this third and final book as the Capitol thinks of even more ways to challenge and torture your favorite characters. Whether you're "Team Pita" or "Team Gale", there's plenty of action with both and of course, Katniss. I felt this was the best book of the series, really digging into the characters and letting the reader experience the harsh reality of rebellion.Read full review...
