It's so nice when a venue (like VHS) goes obsolete because it's a great chance to buy movies dirt cheap! The King and I is a movie/musical that no respectable movie library should be without. This was made when Yul Brynner was at his peak. He sings and dances with amazing professionalism which is hard to imagine if you've seen some of his "shoot 'em up" movies. He actually did get his beginning as a song and dance man and proves in this movie, he still has what it takes.

The King and I is another Rodgers and Hammerstein masterpiece with beautiful costumes and effective sets...and songs, gees, songs that you won't be able to get out of your head for weeks!

I recommend this movie to everyone as it is rated G. It will take you to a time and place very different from your own.Read full review...

I like the story and the pageantry of this film. Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr are excellent together in this delightful clash of cultures. It was worth watching several times....
