Police Have Never Been So Funny

Good comedy can stand the test of time, and the Naked Gun is example #1. Even though it's light on special effects, and many youngsters no longer know who Reggie Jackson is, Lt. Frank Drebin will have you laughing throughout the whole movie (plus seeing OJ Simpson act here is almost a joke in itself). As the world goes crazy around him, Leslie Nielsen is the ultimate "straight man", using witty banter and well-timed slapstick to generate laughs, rather than the potty humor most current comedies rely on. Who doesn't remember the pile of pistachio shells outside his car door, his umpiring gig that had him kicking dirt on other umps, or the fireworks factory exploding while Drebin stands outside announcing "Nothing to see here....please disperse!"

The extras on the DVD are a little light, so you'd be buying this for the movie itself. But if you're a fan of comedy, you owe it to yourself to add this one to your collection.Read full review...

A celebration of hilarity

The Naked Gun Trilogy is a hoot. The series follows the advenutres of Frank Drebin as he tackles various threats. The Zucker/Abrams crew yuk it up and and all the movies are quite funny.

Interesting note: a lot of people not considered actors appear in the films - Anna Nicole Smith, Robert Goulet, OJ Simpson among them. It also marks the debut of (surprisingly decent actress) Priscilla Presley.

I got the trilogy becasue I wanted them and I had the money. I reccommend it to anyone who like a silly comedy.Read full review...

This is a real no brainer. It is a laugh a minute. All corny humor, but it is non stop humor. Leslie Neilson just keeps on cranking out one or two liners. I almost cried as I laughed so hard.
