A classic for generations to come

Not the traditional Christmas story and that is a good thing. Tim Burton is an artist and visionary first and foremost and the group of artists lead by director Henry Selick really brought his vision to life. This is a fantastic movie and after seeing the behind the scenes featurettes and seeing what it took to make this movie it is so much easier to appreciate what they accomplished here. It is hard to put into words. And just as much credit goes to Danny Elfman, perhaps the best composer and songwriter of his generation, what a beautiful soundtrack! I bought the soundtrack many years ago on cd and have listened to it countless times, ripped it onto my laptop and put my three sons to sleep with it most nights this time of year. The new case and digital remastering are a wonderful addition to my collection this year and no movie deserves it more. I had to have it. Excellent movie!!

Still as fresh as the day it was released in 1993, Tim Burton's stop-motion animated Nightmare Before Christmas is a compelling feast of twisted characters and imagery. Danny Elfman's songs and the distinctly Burton-esque characters make this a visual and musical treat for the whole family.

With overlong skeletal limbs, Jack Skellington is a distinctive and surprisingly well dressed Pumpkin King. But to Jack, Halloweentown is a bit like dullsville; Christmastown with its cheer and sparkle, offers a new challenge. It is almost shocking to witness the kidnapping of everyone's beloved Santa. Once he is safely locked away, however, Jack cuts a strange figure, as he flies into the starry skies with his sleigh led by the team of ghostly reindeer. But his off-beat gift-giving ideas (tree-devouring snakes, shrunken heads and toy ducks with bullet holes) terrify the children, instead of pleasing them.

But all's well that ends well and Jack sees the error of his ways and rescues Santa and the little rag doll who are held captive by Oogie Boogie, a marvelous creature made up of insects and slime. Musically, there are some clever pieces, including a Quartet of Dracula's singing in harmony, and a rendition of Ain't We Got Fun in a minor key. Nightmare Before Christmas

This is so very cool this DVD version with the extra features. The audience gets to see a glimpse into what made the cut and what didn't in the theatrical version and how the story line evolved to it's featured conclusion. IMHO great work all the way around kudos to: Tim Burton, Danny Elfman,Paul Reubens,Chris Sarandon,Catherine O'Hara,William Hickey,Glenn Shadix,Ken Page,Edward Ivory and the rest of the cast and crew. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a classic. It came out around the time that me and my huband got married and we loved it. We watched it over and over. It was different at the time there were no other movies of this kind.We thought the world of this movie and now our kids love it .They had no clue that we loved this movie or that we had ever saw it before.Now its our family christmas movie.
Tim Burton has become our familys favorite director .He has such a wild imaigination. He makes movies that are like no others. The corpes bride is another one. To bad they dont come out with the 3d versions on DVD. That would be awesome. I don’t usually write reviews

I usually just fill out the feedback on items I buy but I felt it was very much needed for me to write just how much I appreciate the way this item was packaged. I’m a huge fan of this movie and have several different copies and I just wanted to say thank you for wrapping it in bubble wrap as well as placing a piece of cardboard over the front so jacks face did not get push in during shipping. Also the DVD’s are in beautiful condition and I couldn’t have asked for better considering the price I paid. So again thank you! Remastered and marvaleous!

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I love the Nightmare Before Christmas! I remember the classic version back on VHS. That was the version I fell in love with. This version is a little different. This new, remastered version is stunning. The video is so much clearer and defined. I watched this new version with some friends and they asked me if this was remastered before I even told them. If you are looking for the nostalgic memories of the old movie, get the earlier, unedited DVD. If you have never seen the movie, or are open to try a new thing, definitely get this new, remastered version. Everything in this movie was just so much clearer and brighter. The beauty of this movie blew me away. Also, if you'd like to enjoy the songs on an even higher level, get this version. The audio is impeccable and will blow you away!Read full review...

Nightmare Before Chirstmas, Instant Classic

For when it was filmed/created the quality of the movie is spectacular. The songs of this animated musical are catchy, fun, and memorable. The story itself is fun and memorable as well as the characters. No one can forget the love and the excitement Jack and Sally produce! Tim Burton has done it again, and created a movie that people of all ages can love and enjoy. Personally, it is my favorite movie of all time. I am a little biased. I've been watching it since it came out in 1993. It is one you can't really get tired of. I recommend this move to parents for their kids, and to anyone who is sick of the same old Dora, and Blues shows! It is a heartfelt and enticing movie that will keep you coming back for more! First impression

I was so excited to get my dvd in the mail.. But sadly my excitement ended when i noticed the dvd case was broken.. Then the dvds just fell out and got slightly scratched. Now... Im actually impressed dvd works.. But upset with the condition on the case considering im a huge Tim Burton fan and i LOVE.
