Fun But Overdone

This is a cute movie with a great cast. A little silly in spots and overdone in terms of the "clumsy acts" of the Princess, but entertaining, for sure. The fast pace is good -- makes up for some of the redundant encounters. I'm very glad I saw it because the sequel, Princess Diaries 2, is a far better production in my opinion, and it was even more enjoyable having known "what had happened before" in the original film. I recommend this movie to those looking for a lighthearted escape from reality, with picturesque scenery and a wonderful performance by Julie Andrews.Read full review...

The Princess Diaries

Personally, I love Anne Hathaway! I love her! She's my dream girl! And in this flick she's delightful, funny, clumsy, smart, clever, sweet, real, superb!
It's a very nice plot also, very original idea, the princess hidden in San Francisco downtown.
Julie Andrews is absolutely amazing, delightful and charming to watch, even to hear. That lady is just absolute elegance!
The actress that plays Anne Hathaway's best friend is hilarious! A complete riot!
In general, this is a good comedy, teen movie with a good message, great cast (Hector Elizondo among others), great directing by the legendary Gary Marshall and awesome acting. Very fun to watch; I'd say funnier than the sequel. Recommended.Read full review...

Good family movie

My daughter and I really enjoyed this movie. It has strong female role models, and deals with issues such as peer pressure, decision making, and family values. Good clean fun - I'd recommend for age 8 and up (might be boring for the younger set). No foul language, happy Disney ending!Read full review...
