WOOHOO! The movie did NOT let us down!

Confession: my husband and I are HUGE Simpsons fans. We have every season on DVD that has been released to date and a house full of figures, t-shirts, and ... I can best sum it up with one of the great true-isms of our home and every conversation we have: "Everything comes back to the Simpsons."

That being said, we speculated in detail for months about the movie. Would it (like some of the Star Trek movies and the X-Files movies, which come immediately to mind) just turn out to be a good-but-not-great episode? Would they use real actors or the animated characters? Would they pack in as many celebrity cameos as they could possibly fit into 90 minutes?

We'd finally decided that the only possible storylines that could "carry" a movie would be Homer's mother coming home and falling for Flanders, or that the "mystery" behind what happened to Marge's father would at last be revealed. Thin, perhaps - but we figured the talent could pull it off easily.

WRONG!!!!

Without missing a beat, the movie starts with the Simpsons' trademark in-your-face sarcastic humor, and the ball stayed in play for the beginning through the end with a storyline so creative and ingenious, neither of us had considered it in our wildest fantasies! That's Matt Groening, and THAT is why The Simpsons is still alive and fresh after decades.

If you missed it in the theater, be sure to sit all the way through the credits. You do NOT want to miss Maggie's first clearly-understandable word. Another nice and long-overdue little feature was included in the closing credits: as each voice talent was credited, a thumbnail portrait catalog of all the major characters each actor voices was included. GREAT touch ... and Tess, Marcia and the others got the equal billing they deserve!

It was a huge and glorious adventure - far too grand in scale to be broken into "to be continued" episodes. It was a MOVIE. A meaty, substantial movie with a great plot, plenty of twist, and a highly satisfying ending. This is NOT just a long episode - it's a work unto itself. Far exceeding our hopes, the troop did not let us down.

The Simpsons Movie is worth owning just as a REALLY funny movie - whether or not you've ever been in to the Simpsons. If you *are* into the show, this is an absolute MUST-HAVE ... but you already knew that.

Worth every minute and every penny. An instant CLASSIC!

Fan of the show, you'll love the movie. 4 1/2 stars

Going in to see the movie, I was skeptical. Thinking to myself, oh it will just be a extended episode, or bunch of episodes crammed into a movie.
But I was pleasantly surprised with the MOVIE. Since the Simpsons have been around now for around 20 years, I had gotten tired of watching them about 5 years ago. So I do not consider myself an avid Simpsons follower (my older brother on the other hand, can't get enough). Anyhow, I am not a huge fan, but when I need a laugh, I will watch a new episode.

The movie itself, brought in it's own essence. And did not come off like a extended episode at all. It was quite enjoying to watch a full lenght Simpsons movie, and kinda hope for a sequel (LOL).

I did not see it in the theaters, I watched it first in standard DVD at my brothers house, and enjoyed it so much, I bought the BD version. Yes the quality of the BD compared to the SD version, is quite obvious. The colors are MUCH more vivid on the BD version, same applies to the sound (crystal clear) and has some good use of the surrounds, and a tad hint of LFE here and there (not knock off your socks bass, but enough to fit the movie well).

Actually before I purchased it on eBay, I had it sent from my Netflix account (even though I had just watched it the day before). It is a movie that is VERY easy to recommend, specially for any Simpson fans or animated movie fans of all ages. Nothing that bad in the movie, that I would call offensive (even for about a 10 year old). Granted that is going by todays standards, but I can see where it might get a PG-13 rating (but heck, the TV series, I have seen worse).

You are bound to get a few chuckles from your favorite character, each one has good sized parts, and plenty of lines.

I would say this is a keeper, not a rental (unless you are not much of a Simpsons fan). So if you like the Simpsons, save your rental for another movie and buy this one.

Solid 4 1/2 Stars!!!!!!! ;)

I consider this movie: "An Instant Classic"!!!!

The Simpsons Movie is the redemption of one of the biggest sitcom series in American history. This movie was this one in a lifetime opportunity for Matt Groening and his cast for making a great impression about the series. They had the opportunity to put in display their creative minds and make this movie a great one. And I have to say, they did not disappointed. The jokes are good, the situations random as they can be and the bluffing about other series and movies: FANTASTIC!!! It is a great movie to watch, not for kids for obvious reasons but for teenagers and adults, it will make you LOL (Laugh Out Loud).Read full review...

This movie made justice to our beloved cartoon.

This movie made justice to our beloved cartoon. It’s a movie of adventure, laughs, and the meaning of donuts. With a couple of serious scenes and aspect sot the script, this movie was able to bring in the viewer to feel happiness, sadness, love, and even anger. It’s a wonderful film with non-stop hour and so-many-minutes of laughter. What makes it even better is that the jokes within the movie were recognizable to regular viewers of the shows but also understood by those who, for some unknown and probably ludicrous reason, do not watch the show. As a lover of the Simpsons I could not get enough, I currently own all 11 seasons of The Simpsons on DVD as well as the movie and I highly recommend this movie to all those people who are looking for a good laugh and some really high-quality entertainment. This movie is definitely and unquestionably worth its price! You’ll want to watch it again and again! The DVD also has lots of special features which allow you to play with Homer as he tries to save the family and with the director’s commentary, regular viewers can hear all the hilarious jokes that were sadly cut from the movie. And to those Simpsons-fans who have not watched this movie, you’ll eb happy to know that the changes in the movie will not change in the show, so no, Lisa does not have a boyfriend in the show. Great movie! But it NOW.Read full review...

The Simpsons Movie 2007 Blu-Ray

The Simpsons is an old time classic. Everybody watched The Simpsons at one time or another in their life. I probably watched it more than others, so when the movie came out it gave grown-up me a chance to enjoy one of my child hood favorites.

We liked everything about the movie..It was hilarious. The Simpsons comedies made references on subjects from the network big wigs who canceled them to the hilarious comedy of our government. The plot was even entertaining. I won't go into details for those of you who haven't seen it. Moreover, the picture quality was excellent. This was the first Blu-Ray movie I had experienced and it was remarkable. Even Being a cartoon the picture was surprising better than in standard definition.

We watched the movie three times and didn't find anything that we didn't liek about it. Overall we were very pleased with what we saw.

THE SIMPSONS MOVIE

Despite the bologna you may have heard that The Simpsons Movie was nothing more than an extended episode, you must see this film if you are alive and breathing. I made my brother watch it and he's no fan. While watching, he almost wet his couch on more than one occasion. The Simpsons Movie returns to it's roots, provides a plausable storyline and provides America with the all to few Classic Movie moments. I speak of Marge riding side saddle on a motorcycle with Homer after he helped save Springfield. As they kiss Marge says:"Best kiss of my life" to wit, Homer Retorts:"Best kiss of your life, so far". This scene will be pasted in the anals of movie classic moments along side Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman(This looks like the begining of a beautiful Friendship). For you see, Like Casablanca, The Simpsons Movie possess the one necessary ingredient to make this work a classic - Timelessness.Read full review...

Homer Does It Again

Homer has long been the life of The Simpsons, although early in the show's success it seemed that Bart was the main character. Bart got the main bits in Butterfinger adds, and he had the catch phrases on the T-shirts like "Cowabunga", "Eat My Shorts", and so on. Over the course of the show, Homer has done some of the dumbest things known to mankind. His character has thus been transferred to the feature movie format, and he is again in the spotlight.

Because of his love for donuts, he puts the town of Springfield in an Armageddon type of situation. Then he and the family escape to Alaska only to return to try to save town. Along the way are numerous funny adventures that'll leave all family members laughing.

What I liked the most about this movie is that pretty much every character gets involved and at least has a line or two in the picture. This movie is excellent and is definitely a must see for fans of the show. It's fun, dumb, and intelligent all at the same time. Exactly what a comedy is supposed to be.

Love It!

I was never a real big Simpson's fan growing up. With other shows like South Park and Family Guy pushing the boundries a little further, I tended to put my attention on those shows more.

I saw this movie the first time in the movie theater the day it came out. I had loved the Spider Pig commercials, and had a feeling it would be a good way to spend my friday night. Well, the movie started, and I laughed non-stop for the first 20 min of the movie. As a matter of fact, the whole theater was laughing!

When I got this movie on Blu-ray i was very excited because I knew I would be getting the best picture possible from a Simpsons kind of art work. The picture is definately top notch. I have a 52" Sony BRAVIA 1080p televison and like all other Blu-ray movies I watch, my jaw is dropped for the whole movie!

If you have an kind of sense of humor and a Blu-ray player, I say, get this movie. You will laugh your heart out and isn't that what the Simpsons is all about?

Fun Fact..............

A running joke throughout the series is that no one knows where Springfield is. The writers are always coming up with ways to keep the audience guessing. Some examples of this are: in 'Sunday, Cruddy Sunday' when Marge phones the egg painting company and gives her address, she says, "742 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield Ohi...", then cuts out to say, "Oh hiya Maude!" to Maude Flanders, who suddenly appears in the kitchen. When Homer and Bart are off to the Edison Museum in 'The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace' they drive past a sign with exits to New Jersey, Michigan and Oregon, none of which are close to each other. When Larry Burns spots Mr. Burns on the train, he asks where the train is going. The conductor says, "Springfield." and Burns asks, "Springfield where?", but the conductor's reply is drowned out by the train's engine.Read full review...
